I checked around ebay and figure I could get a refurbed console for about a hundred and some change. Add in a HDD and wires and it will be in the 170 range. Is this a good deal? I realize there is always a risk buying used. I've come across a few with a 2010 manufacture date. That would mean I'm covered until 2013 under microsoft's warranty, right?

There's always a risk in buying used consoles. But just because someone has used it doesn't mean it won't work fine. There's people that legitimately sell their consoles just like I sold a perfectly working Wii. It will have a warranty as long as the previous owner hasn't physically opened the system or anything and if the warranty hasn't run out(which is 3 years or so).

I don't see the problem as long as you don't buy a very old one. But personally I would just save up some more money and get one of the elite bundles.

If you do buy a used console, you may want to consider Gamestop. At least that way if something goes wrong, you can probably exchange it.

Dont buy a used one trust me. If you find a person like me that traded in there old xbox to ebgames to get a new one cause mine was very loud about to break and the controler was all messed up then you will lose out. Get a new one its worth it.

Buy a used Console from Game Stop if you have to buy it used. And purchase the 1 year replacement plan. If it conks out before the year is up then they will replace it on the spot. but you have to remember that if you can only do a license transfer once a year. Take that into consideration. If I were you I would just buy a shiny new Arcade for 200 dollars american, then spring on a HDD and games. If you can. Its under mircosoft's coverage and they will fix it if breaks. Take it from an owner that has only had second hand Xboxes. Im on my ninth console now :? Corse I rarely play online so the license transfer don't affect me to much.

Can you answer my other question about the warranty? If it has a 2010 manufacture date then I have until 2013 before the warranty expires, correct? If that is the case and it does break down I can send it in for a free repair. Not to mention if I do buy it and it doesn't work, or if I find the seal is broken, I can return it and get my money back. If someone can confirm the warranty question, then I see no problem buying it used for much cheaper.

??? FTW??? A new Xbox 360 cost 199.99!! Google Used Xbox 360 console and a huge list of options come up for less than 170!! Go to craigslist and you can get one from someone for 120.00 and less.

It depends on what you want to do with the console though. I am waiting for a price drop first then getting used, and my own 250 HDD for less than 150.00. I will not need to use ONLINE at all so no worries here. YOU can look at which console chips have the most porblems to aviod them.

A warranty is a MUST for 360s. But for me personally, I never buy anything used that is electronics, especially games because no one seems to take care of games like I do. :)

I bought my first Xbox 360 used on eBay for $150.00. It came with a 20gb HDD, 2 wireless controllers, and component cables and power brick. When it came it wasnt very well packaged which caused it to have issues with opening the cd/dvd drive occasionally so i would have to hit the side for it to open.

Wait for E3, they will more likely be announcing a price drop. E3 is like June 15th I think. That's when I'm going to buy another 360. (traded the other into gamestop lolz)

Agreed. At the current price point, it's smarter to buy new. A peace of mind is worth it, alone.

Basically what a license transfer is, is when you completely replace your Xbox 360 with another console. Each Console is coded specally coded for its user. I have to do a license transfer from my Elite to my brad new Arcade that I plan to purchase because I don't wanna put all my faith in a console that was manufactured in november of 2007. Sorry got a little ot, but License Transfer is when your DLC is re coded for your new xbox. I lost alot of my DLC with my RRoD'd box. Even re downloading it don't make it work for your fresh new Xbox. Alot of my Rock Band DLC songs don't play at all on my Arcade and there is nothing I can do about it untill I get my new Xbox transfered. :P. If that don't help you, there's always Google haha.

I'm getting an arcade model and plugging in my 8gig thumbdrive for saving stuff, used seems to be sketchy from what I've read especially with so many banned ones being sold cheaply. I would only buy a used one if I knew the person selling it, I've also read that there wont be so much of a price drop after E3 but new bundles with Natal so I'm going today for my arcade and now my son and myself can play mulit on our 360's.

I recently bought a used one and as soon as I turned it on it had 4 red lights. I never experienced that so I looked around online and found out I just needed to have the av plug in better, it came with the cords that say hd or tv on them, but it also came with a 20GB HDD and a WIRED controller for only $180. To me this pack seems really weird but I'm happy with it so far. But with all that said buying a used 360 is a gamble and I don't feal safe with recommending it to just anyone.

Never buy a used 360 off of Ebay..you're better off buying it new. At least that way you'll get a 3-year warranty.

If the console was manufactured in in 2010, you should have no issues.

After both of my brand new 360's died, I had to say forget it and buy a newer model from Gamestop that was used. But it was only used for 2 days after getting opened from a brand Arcade bundle. So i got a hell of a deal, and it's still been doing good with no issues..had it for 2 years. Just have them check the manufactured date on em to see which one you want. I had them give me the most recent one.
