I'll pick Lost Odyssey up as soon as I finish FFXII. Have to devote time to one RPG at a time. I'm not too happy with the 7.5 though.DVzomb
Im not either
oh yea that reminded me i have to beat Blue Dragon before i get it
I did my duty and pre-purchased Lost Odyssey today....and i also picked up Eternal Sonata. Time to give some Japanese games some love on my 360. I have not played a JRPG for a few years so im not so jaded. The ps2 was filled with dozens of 7.5 jrpg's and that did not seem to stop fans of those games from enjoying them.Videodogg
Eternal Sonata is an amazing game.
I'm picking up this game tomorrow. It's a solid, by the numbers JRPG that may not introduce much new material but it builds on solid foundations, so I'm happy. There's one thing that makes me angry, however, and that's this.... WHY THE HECK IS THERE A FEMALE CHARACTER NAMED SETH????? Someone F'd up the translation on that one, as that's a MALE name, and one heck of a manly name at that. Damn Engrish anyway. Oh well, I want the game :) 4 discs brings me back to :D
We are not happy. (Notice the MALEness?) Moar

In some japanese anime there are female characters with the name Seth as well.

You have to look who game Lost Odyssey this 7.5; Gamespot. I found that they are very picky about things.
Remember, Gamespot also gave Game of the Year to Call of Duty 4 (which scored a 9.0) over Halo 3 (which scored a 9.5). Don't get me wrong, COD4 deserved to win it, but how can they say one game which was a lower score wins game of the year over another that has a higher score? Did Halo 3 not cover the point spread or something? Hey, gamespot is the one who gave Halo 3 a 9.5; not me.
If we all would have listened to Gamespot, we probably wouldn't have played Mass Effect lol. I'm sure Lost Odyssey does have some flaws but I think it should have got a higher review. It looks very good.
Lost Odyssey got a higher review than Turok....
WTF is going on here?
FearTheRain
Turok sucks
Well i havent played the game, but you trash on Lost Odyssey and i dought you have even played the game then i'll do the same to turok.
Turok has a 7.2 critic score while Lost Odyssey has 7.8 critic score
So my 360 JRPG starved brothers and sisters - ignore the biased FPS reviewer and buy L.O. The only thing derivative about L.O is the review itself.
Kevin rarely reviews first-person shooters. Why in God's name would you even type that?schline
He's just crying because Lost Odyssey got a the low review it deserved. :P

Your the one crying over how Lost Odyssey Outscored Turok. When you can see which one is the better game, LOST ODYSSEY.

Turok is actually a pretty fun game, but it is frustrating at parts. The MP is good too, not as good as Halo3 or CoD4, but still fun.[QUOTE="FearTheRain"][QUOTE="schline"]Kevin rarely reviews first-person shooters. Why in God's name would you even type that?battalionwars13

You said yourself that you havent even played Turok so how can you know which is better?
Its all a matter of opinion, I happen to think Jrpg's suck so Im definatly going with Turok, that I think is definatly a great game. You happen to like Jrpg's AND you havent played Turok so of course, yorue going to say LO is better.

I wonder how much they paid GameSpot.. lol prob not enough  I can't wait for other sites like 1up and IGN to give it like 8.5 and stuff to make GameSpot look (more) like idiots.2apture-13ound

I played the Turok demo and it didn't seem very fun, gamespot was pretty accurate. I dunno if I'll get Lost Odyssy or not, I hated the FF series but I might rent it.

1up and IGN already gave their reviews. IGN - 8.2. And 1up, I think 8.0 or something. The bottom line with Lost Odyssey, it's a love or hate game. You're going to either like it or you flat out dont. And apparently, Gamespot could care less if LO did well. A game that looks that great doesnt deserve a 7.5. And as much as I didnt like Turok, it didnt deserve a 7.0, either! These are both solid titles, and these reviews are unprofessional, to say the least. I'm not convinced that these websites are credible anymore. It's time we revolutionize and judge games for ourselves. Meaning, buy it even if it doesnt recieve a damn interactive award, who cares. I'm proud of my brethrens that went out and bought Turok despite it's ratings. Lets bring gaming back to it's roots. ;)

Never saw Trinity Blood or Innocent Venus huh? But I agree the game looks solid to me as well, can't wait to play it.
P.S. I'll still pick this one up. Despite negative reviews.:)Elann2008I love that a score of 7.5 with the word "Good" right next to it counts as a negative review. The bottom line is that the reviews have ALL been positive, at least the ones I've read and that have more credibilty whatever that means these days.
I really can't believe that people are so preoccupied with a numerical rating system that they let it blind them to what they personally enjoy in a video game. Lost Odyssey got a 7.5 from GameSpot, who cares? I sure don't, I'm buying this game for reasons I've already stated numerous times and a number isn't going to change that.
Anyone who was excited about Lost Odyssey knows that this is a classic Japanese roleplaying game with modern flare; if they didn't than they obviously never took the time to do any research. With that said, those whom knew what they were looking for with Lost Odyssey should still be excited about this title, because everything in terms of this being a story-driven, classic Japanese roleplaying game have been extremely positive.
In fairness to the reviewer, this score is quite appropriate for Lost Odyssey; especially when you take into consideration the score that Mass Effect received here at GameSpot. Lost Odyssey has a couple of technical issues, doesn't break any next-gen barriers when it comes to roleplaying games, however what it does (being a classic Japanese roleplaying game), it does very well. This makes it a great game, however it isn't truly next generation, and so it obviously isn't going to get an extremely high score.
But in the end, again, who cares? I'm still getting Lost Odyssey, I know what to expect from it, and I'm very excited to experience what it has to offer; you should be as well.
LOL 7.5? I was expecting a 5.0 from these Gamespot losers. Every RPG review I've seen so far (recent reviews) have been "frustrating this," and "frustrating that," like in Mass Effect. That Kevin dude found the land Rover ("Mako") extremely challenging to play.
I'm starting to think Gamespot's reviewers just suck ass at video games in general.
Listen up Gamespot members: Don't let their reviews sway you. Gamespot has not liked ANY RPG game since a LONG ASS TIME ago. Mass Effect was a near perfect masterpiece (considering it was a western RPG, though) and they gave it an 8.5 for some technicalities with frame rate.
It's not the game's fault that the Xbox 360 can't handle the game. It's a hardware problem, it is.
The point I want to make: NOBUO UEMATSU is doing the music for this game. If Nobuo has anything to do with the game, then you can bet your ass it will rock. Final Fantasy wouldn't have been the same if he wasn't doing the music for it (hence why Final Fantasy 12 didn't really feel like a Final Fantasy game to a lot of people -- he left Square Enix in 2004).
To those who object that statement: Would Star Wars have been the same if John Williams wasn't doing the music? Hell no. Pick this game up people, it kicks ass.
[QUOTE="Elann2008"]P.S. I'll still pick this one up. Despite negative reviews.:)1_Hit_KillerI love that a score of 7.5 with the word "Good" right next to it counts as a negative review. Let's get real. A 7.5 isnt considered good. I dont care what Gamespot put next to the rating. You're full of it. A good game is at least 8.0-8.5. A great game, is 9.0-9.5. Those are my standards. Obviously your standards are low. Anything with "7.0" is average. Dude, are you from another planet? You believe Gamespot? I said negative REVIEWS. That's plural. I based it on many reviews. More like 9 critic reviews. If you have nothing nice to say, dont.
I for one am loving the game. The score doesn't really matter to me. The game is a little dated gameplay-wise, yes, but it's great to finally play a new RPG that feels like the ones I used to play in the PS1/PS2 era. While I like innovation, I also like familiarity, and this is the first real next-gen JRPG to not disappoint me. soldier091
The fact of the matter remains: I LOVE the "dated" turn based combat. Gives you that good old Japanese RPG, EPIC feel to it that I deeply, passionately loved back in the day.

SAME
dont get the review at all,Did it get a bad review because its just like other RPGs,is it to traditional and dosent bring anough new gameplay mechanics? If so then COD4 Halo3 evrey FF up to 12,every sports game, and GH2-3 should all get 7.5 as wellukillwegrill
I know! I mean wth..is up with these reviewers bashing on this great game. Sigh...
