i hate jrpgs, tbh i hate pretty much every rpg (yes including oblivion).. but guess what im in love with lost odyssey. Nearly finished the game, it just gets too hard towards the end.
PS: Im listening to Lost Odyssey soundtrack atm, its frikin awesome
Am I missing something or does this game really sucks ?kc666
Nope, you are not missing anything. The game bored me to death and had nothing appealing about it to me.
Very enjoyable for me.... I logged 120 hours into it..... did everything except for finding all the field treasures..... I found most of the characters likable, graphics were quite good (even with the framerate drops). Story was fairly original, and interesting.... the dream sequences were hit and miss for me..... some were great, others, I just wanted them to end.
Don't know who, but someone said it gets hard towards the end....umm... okay... I breezed through it like a joke.
I can understand not being a huge fan of the characters, since there really isn't that much to them - especially at the start of the game. But not liking the Dreams? Shame on you sir, shame on you. They're well-written intelligent little distractions which I personally loved.SpigleyMcCheese
Yup, if you dont mind reading, most of the dreams actually add alot to the main character and the world hes been a part of. Really well written i must say:D
I would deem it my Favourite RPG of the year so far. Big Part in the fact that it really went Old School in Design and does it successfully. I felt like when playing it that it was the 90's again and those years were the best RPG years for consoles. Its understandable that people don't like JRPG's (I don't think its the Art Style they hate just the Turn Based Gameplay) but Lost Odyssey felt Mature the entire time playing it simply because the storyline was Exellent beyond what most RPG's have done in recent years.
But everyone has different tastes.
I got Blue Dragon for Free Recently, and when I first played its demo which seems like a year ago I thought it was total garbage, but the actual game itself I find that I am pleasently suprised with. The Demo really made the game look terrible.
It just goes to show you that you never know how good something is until you actually give it a chance. You have to at least do that out of respect to others instead of insult the genre.

Exactly my thoughts. If the OP didnt think that was quality writing, he should just stop now. This genre is obviously not for him.
I liked the game, but I think it has a major flaw. I'm what some might call a leveler. In jRPG's especially I have a tendency to artificially jack up my characters. As an example, I went in Rabanastre palace at level 31 in the beginning of FFXII. I even found a cool way to get my characters to level 50 in disc 2 of Lost Odyssey despite the games desire to hold you a certain levels.
The major flaw in Lost Odyssey then for me was that there were no sweet abilities, items, spells at the end of the leveling process that made it worth it to get stronger. As and example, there is an attack called "Combo" at the beginning that does 2 hits, and an attack at the very high levels called "3-Combo" that does 3 hits. The problem is that Combo can be done in 1 turn and 3 combo takes 2... so you're just gyping yourself of a hit by using the stronger attack.
This is all not to mention that none of the characters have any unique attacks. A friend of mine noted that Limits/desperations/overdrives/MQs from Final Fantasy actually contribute a lot to the overall interest of the combat even though they don't pop up every fight. The idea that your just storing up for a baller attack makes things interesting, and the elaborate nature of the final version of this attack makes working so hard to get it worth it. Lost Odyssey doesn't have that, the combat is just extremely basic.
I personally think that the story is pretty good and I agree that the mature nature of it makes it much more interesting. I just wanted a little more depth in the combat and some better hair graphics for this game to be truly great.

How'd you manage to level up to a 50 in disc 2? I though Lost Odyssey locks the your level at cerain points?
You fell asleep reading the memories? Those were hands down the best part of the game!
How old are you?
The game was alright. It's the best Jrpg I've played this gen anyway.
The dailouge I thought was decent. Good by Jrpg standards anyway. And the graphics were pretty good. Not excelent, but good. And Im not going to judge the game by graphics though.

There's an exploit you can use. It caps at 49 though. He didn't find anything he just goes to youtube and types in (Xgame) lvling exploit. Then mimics the video's he finds.

I clocked in 70 hours into this game and won it at level 90 thanks to the exploit on disc 2 and the DLC dungeon I bought ( i never did win that) but 3 combo is the bomb if you know how to use it just like all skills i found this out in the DLC dungeon if you have your double- caster cast the spirt spell (Faster) and (Powera) on both Seth and Kaim in the first round then 3 combo will work on the first round (kaim and seth attack with 3 combo right after your casters cast faster/powera) and they where doing 15k + damage a piece! both faster and powera lasts 5 to 6 round the only time I had to recast it was on the final boss after round 10 or so. so the perfect strategy is to doublecast faster/powera on both kaim and seth and use 3 combo i wiped the floor with that strategy. FYI your casters need to have spell reduction 1 and 2 equipped if you want them to double cast on the same round.

Woah... are you kidding. The dreams are written if you like books written for tweens. They're either poorly written or poorly translated. The pieces are trite and the sentences are structured with a staccato sense of pacing.
They are, however, conceptually sound. I can see where they were going with it and that's where I can find appreciation for them.
I do like the game so far, but I really wouldn't call the dreams well-written.
I'm up to disk 3, though the characters at the beginning of the game is a tad bland once you log in a few hours and get deeper into the stories and characters it gets reallly good.
I personally am loving it, though some parts of the game if your under leveled your gonna get owned.
I like, I would prefer to level up as much as I want, and equip armor, but the game is fun...Its very difficult though..one of the toughest Jrpgs I have ever played.
I really liked the game. I admit. I didn't read alot of the dreams, but it took nothing away from the game for me. The music is amazing.
I'm actually thinking about purchasing the soundtrack.

You should seriosly consider going back and reading them they are incredibly well written.
I rented this game and was hooked on it and was going to buy it......until i started the game+ and saw how they stripped you of all your goodies that you worked so hard for. Heck no i sent that baby back. MistW screwed up bad with the Broken game+. Other than the constant freezing and lagging out, this game was very enjoyable.
the dreams were really good i think. I would have read all of them except i rented it.
i actually finished the whole game in 1 rent. all i did was play that game for a week straigth tho lol
i thought it was pretty good for a jrpg, i love most jrpg. although at the end it was kinda rushed i think and it doesnt answer everything i wanted to know.
at least the ending wasnt as bad as eternal sonata...
