Looks pretty impressive I'd say.

I know it'll never happen - but it would be really nice if one of these fantasy RPGs (LOTR in particular) had some community mapping tools - so after completing the main storyline, you could use a Warcraft 3 style editor (I think most people will agree it was one of the best and simplest editors ever made) to make new stories and quests to share with your friends.

Ah well, in reality though; I hope it will just generally have a feeling of epic storyline and quest; rather than focusing on the action and combat like a lot of these games.

Well, if they do make an RPG out of War in the North, I hope they can make it like EA did with The Third Age on the last gen consoles. I loved that game so much. They did so many right things with that game. I know alot of people don't like Turn-Based RPGs, but if some of those Nay-sayers could play The Third Age, they might give them a second thought. I really hope they get Ian McKellen to do Voice Over for the game like all the other LOTR games.

would you say KOTOR was turn based? coz i loved that game but i avoid JRPGs for that reason and coz they seem to be more aimed at lovers of anime aswell. i never played the third age either. i thought it was PC

I wouldn't have called KOTOR turn based, but it had quite a nice style where it wasn't all-out jump around action, but it wasn't so slow that it lost it's dynamics. If it wasn't for the 20 games that all followed it on the dialogue choice system and bored me a little, I'd still be playing it. Are you thinking that's what this new LOTR will be like?

yeah well i kinda hope it isnt. coz although i have nothing against that style i just think this game would be better suited as an action rpg but with still alot of customisation options and loads of quests. they said therell be like 4 player online co op i think so im guessing it wont really be much of an rpg. which will be a shame coz like you said it would be really cool as a really big open ended rpg like WoW is but without the mmorpg style. that sounds really confusing haha but i think you get the jist

I hope this will be the Lord of the Rings game I've been waiting on. If it's half as good as Dragon Age it will be epic

It's been a while since I played KOTOR, but seeing as it's based on the d20 system, I'd say yes.

Just had such a nerd-gasm watching that. This is what i posted a little while ago in a "if you could make any game what would it be thread"

I want and Oblivion-esque game set in the LotR universe. Kinda like the LotR MMO without the MMO part. Tons of quests and one of the deepest universes around, even 3 ages to play around with.

Granted the game would have to take some liberties with the namesake that should be welcomed. Having orcs and Uruk-hai running around the Shire trading with the merchants does seem out of place but i'd be willing to sacrifice it for the game of my dreams. I've been an LotR nerd since i was real young.

Can't wait to see how this game works out.

Actually re-reading the trilogy right now.

oblivion style would be pretty awesome but im guessing its gonna be more action orientated and 3rd person. but i have high hopes for it. conquest didnt turn out so great but i was only disappointed because i was hoping for my battlefront fix with it. rpg can mean alot of things nowadays to developers so lets hope its more true to the genre with dalogue trees and vast customisation options, i dont want it to be over in a second like that crapfest fable 2
