Hey all,

So the new Mad Max game has got it's review from Gamespot. I must admit, I am a little disappointed reading some of the issues in the review (such as the games difficulty to strike a balance between trying to be realistic such as getting water, but then other aspects such as being able to carry loads of items, causing that odd sense of what is the game trying to achieve).

So, how do you feel about the game? Are you getting it or already got it?

Let us know what you think of the game (but try to avoid spoiler talk).

Enjoy!

I'm enjoying the game a lot actually, I'm a little pressed for time now so I will just copy a post I made earlier in another forum....

Yeah I've put in about 5 hours now into the game, and honestly I'm loving it. All I wanted was a "decent" game, but it is surprisingly awesome overall I'm finding.

I love the atmosphere and the attention to detail....little things like when you turn on the car and the water dripping from the exhaust. The lighting effects are great. The companion that follows you and all the little details like when you stop the car and he gets out to repair it.

The Gamespot review missed the mark completely imo but that is ok, I only want to say to MadMax fans try it yourself before dismissing it if you are on the fence, that is all.

I do have a complaint though, I enjoy the melee combat overall, it's nothing special but it does the job, a lock on feature would have been nice, sometimes it can get tricky in tight areas.

I´m really liking the game. Of course its quest structure isn´t as complex/imaginative as the Witcher 3, no one was expecting it, I think. It does its job well, and until now I feel like everything that the game asks me to do is completely justified and coherent with the character and universe, and that to me is the most important thing when it comes to quests. A game like GTA V, has far more serious issues, in this area, than this game, IMO.

Visually it´s not the most impressive game ever. Some textures are kind of poor, but as a whole it looks beautiful. Specially the desert, they really nailed it.

I think the game is worth more than a 6 (at the moment at least) although I completely accept the score. I have one fundamental problem with the game, and that´s the lack of options to personalise various settings to your taste. The game, as it is, is dumbed down to an extreme. There´s absolutely no difficulty options, NO WAY TO DISABLE THE HIGHLY INTRUSIVE AUTO-AIM (WTF!) and that completely destroys any sense of achievement and enjoyment while using the sniper riffle. And no control over map or interface. I don´t know how a 2015 game can give such little control over game-play options.

I accept that the most user-friendly way of selling a game is setting it in the most dumbed down form. I´m OK with that, casuals have the rigth to enjoy their games. But what I think it´s unacceptable is the general lack of control given to the players to adapt the game to their tastes. This is a major negative, and I can see how it can completely destroy the game for some players. How on earth did a developer/publisher didn´t realised how something so cheap to include could hurt the game so much by it´s absence, amazes me. For some players even a 6 can be considered generous.

But dispite this major flaws, I do like the game and still don´t regret getting it over MG. The world building is amazing and that makes me accept it´s flaws.

A final word regarding the sound. The sound-track is very good (to my taste) and sound effects are up there too.

I would recommend - with caution - this game.

I don't see how GS gave this a 6, really, a lot of people will skip this game and miss out on a lot of FUN because of this lousy review. IMO it's a very good game, not great but well worth the money. I've got about 20+ hours in it so far with many more to go!

That's why I don't really go by reviews, I've done enough research on MM to know it's a game for me.

Well that's the thing that kind of baffles me hey, IGN gave this game an 8.4 and they reckon it's a great game. As a Mad Max fan, regardless of what it scored I am going to check this out, and decide for myself.

The Sniper Rifle, at least for me, is now manual aim. I'm not sure if it was the small game update I received, or when I selected a sniper rifle enhancement.

@rrjim1: I hope so. Been avoiding using the sniper rifle. Will check that out in my next play.

I have had some time with the game nad I'm actually enjoying it, completing all areas and quests has been fun so far, and I'm enjoying the gradual progression and upgrades, also as more moves unlock the combat gets a bit more complex and engaging, the driving is fun and actually the car combat is one of the biggest highlights, It's no the best game out, but sure as hell is one I would recommend if someone enjoyed batman arkham city/knight or shadow of mordor

@rrjim1 I agree with you. Got alot of hours into this game and just about finished the entire area of gutgash stronghold and scrapping. My only minor complaint is that it get a little to repetitious after awhile. Once you beef you car up you can destroy the convoy with little problem. Great game to just kick back and have fun with, after all isnt that what games are for , fun.
