I was really looking forward to getting Madden 11 to play as Brett Favre and the Vikings, but with the recent news of his "possible" retirement, if he does retire, how will EA change the roster? I'm assuming they will release it on a roster update but would that roster update remove him completely or what? I mean would downloading a roster update take him off the roster so that you can't even play a single game against the CPU or does it only effect online and franchise modes?

I'm glad you asked this because I am myself a Viking fan and was wondering the same thing. I reserved my copy but haven't picked it up yet, so I was wondering if he is even on the Vikings roster? I sure hope so, and if and when they do release a roster update It would be nice to be able to keep him if we choose, but obviously we wouldn't be able to for online play. The first time I downloaded the online roster update for madden 10 and saw Favre on the Vikings it was awesome. And what a difference it made for their overall team score. I so wish he would decide to play one more year.

Maybe they'll put him on the Free Agency list, because it's still up in the air if he'll play or not. Even if he misses the first few games, there's still a possibility for him to come back when his ankle feels better.

You can still use the default roster offline if you want to use Favre. But you're right, if he retires he will be taken out of the game.
