i know i might be late on this, but did gamespot change its rating system? i noticed that nowadays games are only getting scores with intervals of .5 - assassin's creed got a 9, lost odyssey got a 7.5, devil may cry 4 got an 8, halo 3 got a 9.5, cod4 got a 9, etc. can anyone please clear this up for me? because i think that really great games get rounded down to an 8 or 7.5 while ok games get rounded up to 9.5's, which isn't really fair.

I would say yes. Games are rounded now days. But i think the only reason its rounded is because gamespot has an extensive scoring criteria that math really can't be done too well with. They do not avg. scores either IMO. It could also be to compensate for problems with advertising sales. "Ohh Kane&Lynch got a 6.5666, Better round it up to 7.0 to make those dev's happy with their ad's up on our site."
