We all know stealing is not only easy and fun, but it's also very cool. But did you know that sometimes, stealing can go too far? Take, for instance, this tale of an unassuming store clerk who opened up a returned 360 to find that the console had been gutted, the controllers were missing, and the HDMI cables had been replaced with printer cords.

Sure, we know what you're thinking, because we're thinking it too: That's very funny and not at all immoral. But where we have to draw the line is what was stuffed into the 360 to make it seem weighty enough: An old medical textbook. Gosh, otherwise-pretty-successful thief, don't you have any consideration? Stealing is fine, but shoving a giant hunk of flammable material into a console known for capturing the sun's heat and using it to play DVDs and eventually, inevitably die? That's just dangerous.

ha ha ha. I had something like that happen when i worked at CompUSA about 10yrs ago. Somebody returned a Hard Drive and the clerk forgot to check the box. What was in the box? Just a bunch of rocks.......and i think the Hard drive cost about as much as a 360 nowadays.

but really, why would that store be dumb enough to take back a 360? I would say, no you cannot return your 360. Even if it looks to be unopened. With all the problems people have had with the 360, you would think stores would catch on and know never to return an xbox360. especially an open box. and how embarassing would it be to get caught? then the police get called. I would love to see that!

My bad.

Since I made a mistake, I will kill myself and have my friends and family take pictures of my dead body and put it on Gamespot for your satisfaction. :P

The world we live in today .....

My question is: did the store clerk investigate before or after he accepted the product back? They don't really specify in the article.

So what is he going to do with the inards? I'm assuming his old onegot the RROD and he bought a new one, swapped out the insides and returned it. This way it would have the same serial number when it's scanned and would match the reciept. Well, there's always hope that he could possibly electrocute himself or burn his dwelling down. lol

Hmm, now that I went back and read what I posted, I had a better plan then the actual guy. What an idiot! He could have just swapped out the insides and no one would be the wiser. "Duh, I be da smart. I puts ah medicule book insides". Wouldn't it be funny if the book had his name and stuff on the inside cover. lol

That would be sooo wrong... But anyways, it wouldn't work. Customer would just return it.

Hahah! now that would be funny. They return it, never open the box, put it back on the shelf. another customer buys it, then brings it back, clerk returns it, they put it back on the shelf again.....and the cycle just keeps going.

but seriously.....in reality, you would hope that store learned its lesson and will never do a return anything without opening the dang box. geez!
