mass effect 2 collector base help

so im at the end. the normandy took a nasty crash on top of the vessel and im not able to decide what heavy weapon is best for this task. also from what ive heard through the grapevine is this level has some crappy moments so if anyone can tell me what heavy weapon to use and the best way to make it to the end, i would appreciate it.

Well i always just used the heat seeking missile launcher. I found it to be the most effective to me. Not sure about the crappy moments though? I thought it was a damn good level.

I didnt use many heavy weapons, but if I did it was the nuke gun, the Cain I think its called. Also just be careful on who you choose to lead your squads, speed is of the essence on this level

agreed...this just goes to show people should take opinions with a grain of salt. I thought the last level was intense and well paced.

yes i just released the 5th valve for tali to move threw the pipes and i am loving it so far. the music makes it intense also. i was gunna choose the R-launcher but for some dumb ass reason i went for that blackhole gun. we'll see what happens. thanks for the replies.

I just completed my second playthough and really don't think it matters which heavy weapon you take - I used the particle beam first time (very handy at the end) and the grenade launcher second (cos a well placed explosion is always handy) but it really depends on your preference and how you intend to use it. The 'crappy moments' your thinking of are probably the decisions you have to make regarding who in your squad survives. 1st time I lost one member 2nd time I got it perfect. Personally I thought the ending where I lost someone was much better - just didn't feel like a suicide mission when everyone survives...

ya i just got to the part where the lost crew was freed from those chambers. hopefully i picked the right person to escort the saved crew members. i picked grunt because he is pretty much a barrier and strong in many ways.

I went through the first run on paragon.Ended up losing two guys.After watching the entirely EPIC ending i tried to go through and "save the team."I went through it with ALL the cast members (nobody could get past that dang pipe alive). So concluded that i did something wrong somewhere prior to taking on the base.Though this is just guesswork i believe you have to get only MOST of the characters and not complete a few loyalty quests.As the other guy said "Speed is of the essence".If anyone knows the correct runthrough i'd love to hear it.As to the Heavy weapons all i used was the Cain once i got it.Only one shot per level but it can completely frag anything.The base itself was cake,used a sniper rifle with vanguard skills and they dropped like the flies they resemble.Gonna do a second playthrough on renegade and see how that turns out. The thread is called 'collector base help...' seems logical people are gonna be be talking about the ending AKA the collector base.

maybe someone without a clue could think of the Collector ship? either way for blackart, if you want for the team to survive first send an engineer on the pipes (tali or legion) for the second fire team a natural leader (garrus or miranda) then the biotic expertise (jack or samara) try to have mordin with you at the end, or send him to escort the doctor, also read the descriptions of the crew when chosing one in case you forget
