Mass Effect 2 Ending (*Spoilers!*)

Hi.....I have just finished and unfortunately 2 of my team died during the final level......

I thought I had chosen which different members would do which task wisely but I guess I must have made a bulls up somewhere......

I have also read that many of the characters will be appearing in ME3 and that if they died during this final level then they won't be in the next one......i was really hoping to save everyone (at least on this play through)

Anyway - I was hoping to re-load a old save and re-play the ending in an effort to save everyone......does anyone know if this works (ie: will get the achievement even though I have finished the game)......will the game remember that I saved everyone? or will it just take the first ending I did?

I'm not sure about the achievement, but as long as you keep the save file after you finish the one where you saved everybody, then you'll be able to use it in ME3.

BTW, to save everyone, make sure you did all the loyalty missions and upgraded the ship well enough.

And do you know which people to choose on the final mission?

I thought I had selected the team pretty well.....but Grunt and Mordin both died....

I choose Jacob to go back with the survivors and had Grunt in charge of the 2nd diversion team (I think).....but after the bit where you travel inside the biotic shield Grunt came through just as the door was shut - and he died soon after....

Then at the end when you kill the final boss - it showed Mordin on the ground dead (as he stayed with the Defensive team)....

I might have to play it different next time.....

Always put mordin to bring the people back to the ship.

Here's the survival listing:

Vents-Tali, Squad Leader-Garrus, Normandy Crew Escort-Grunt, Second Firing Team-Garrus, Biotic-Jack, and then whoever's available can go along with you for the final battle.

Thanks...I did have a look at the guides but there were a couple of variations I noticed with them anyway...

I think my biggest mistake was sending Jacob back with the survivors.....and I also kept Garrus with me in my team - but next time I will put him in charge of a team and send Mordin back with the survivors....

Great game though......no game that I've played gives so much weight to yours choices or gets you emotional attached to your team mates.....(normally I wouldn't care who survives at the end as many endings have pre-determind outcomes.....)

Nothing helps with regards to achievments once you've unlocked an achievment no matter how many new games you start that achievment will remain unlocked

1.) Make sure all of your teammates are loyal

2.) Upgrade the Normandy's weapons, armor, and shields

3.) During the conflict between miranda and jack - I chose jack and miranda became unloyal. She survived the final mission.

4.) Upgrade your teams abilites and weapons

5.) During the mission:

Tech Expert- Tali

Ist Squad - Garrus

Escort - Mordin

2nd Squad - Garrus

Biotic - Justicar

Final Battle - Tali and Thane

Everyone will survive.

Thanks.....I just replayed the ending and choose my teams differently (following the advice on here) - and my team survived......plus I got the achievement.....

I then continued the game and created a save so hopefully I can take my more recent save into ME3....

I played as a Vanguard......and I went fully Paragon....(Good guy!)

I would love to play through as a different class and totally Renegade - but the games are banking up in my collection so a new playthrough might have to wait....

i finished mass effect 2 4 times, and am gonna do at least once more, bioware games just force me to replay them with awesomeness.
anyway, do it at least once more so u can bring a renegade charecter into me 3

That achievement has caused me great rage. The first time Mordin died out of nowhere (everybody was loyal) and my second playthrough I couldn't get Jack to regain loyalty and then she died. Ugh.

Some of the positions are interchangeable as well. I put Miranda in charge of 1st Squad and Jacob in charge of the 2nd, and I still had everyone survive. I even had Jack be the escort and Mordin still made it out alive.

I wonder if it is entirely about their loyalty missions.......or whether you had a lot of conversations with them on the Normandy during the game counts....

I had Grunt die when I put him in charge of the 2nd diversion team....(i figured he was soldier so he should be fine.....) - but then I realised I had hardly spoken to him throughout the game.....
