What's up guys. I want to know what you think needs to be added or tweaked in ME2 to make it even better than the first.

**NO Spoilers Please**

The game is incredible but I want to see

tighter combat controls

better squad control/options, like Ghost recon.

tighter cover system

tweak the npc AI a little

one or two tense space battles

and a little more variety on the planets. Most of them can still be barren, but I would like to see some worlds that offer surprises when you land like other beasts besides thresher maws, envornmental hazards etc.

I want to hear you thoughts

They really need to make more in each planet IMO. I loved the ME planets, but I would like fewer/more on them. Also, more weird spaceships where everything has violently gone wrong to explore please. I was fine with the controls...

Don't forget that this is primarily an RPG, and not just another shooter. I would like to see more requirement to do some of the side worlds. It was great that there were so many places to explore in ME, but little reason to actually go to most of them unless you just wanted to explore (I did :) ) More variety in the buildings found on planets - Landing on planets in different galaxies but already knowing the layout of the buildings you would find there did take away a bit of the fun. Combat in space - when I started the game and read all the Codex entries on the Normandy about how it was designed and capable of fighting and stealth, I was expecting to take it into a fight, but that never happened. More use for money. By the end of the game I hit maximum credits and omni gel with nothing else to buy. Already had all the Spectre gear, for me and my squadmates, and found X level upgrades for them. I liked the way the achievements were done. They all came naturally through playing the game normally, but more importantly, they had some benefit in game besides just increasing your GS. Most skill acheivements unlocked it for your next character. Ally achievements gave you a boost to your next playthroughs. Completing the game unlocks the L50 level cap and Hardcore mode. they all helped to make you want to replay the game again and again.

Make the texture details appear right away instead of loading them in while playing. Although that isn't much of a problem if you install the game to your hard drive. Make better controls for the Mako (if included) A mini-game would be nice to have. Doesn't have to be in depth but a simple but fun mini-game. For example, Pazaak from KOTOR Tweak the AI just a little. I don't want my teammates to keep shooting walls sometimes. Be able to switch squad members w/o going back to the Normandy. Maybe you can be allowed to switch squad only when outside and out of combat? Regardless though, I can't wait for ME2!!!

I totally agree with you there. This game should be an example of how achievements should be set up! You sum it up perfectly!

Loved the first game to death but as long as ME2 includes these few things, it will be an even greater adventure:

-Fix the damn Mako controls
-More large-effect decisions (I can count with probably one hand how many large scale decisions you made that actually changed the course of the game)
-Fix texture lag
-More varied side-quests and planets

I'd like a little more variety to the structures on the side-quest planets.

Combat in space - when I started the game and read all the Codex entries on the Normandy about how it was designed and capable of fighting and stealth, I was expecting to take it into a fight, but that never happened.

Avenger1324

That's a neat idea.

At first I was going to say nothing that it was a perfect game. Now I remember the driving levels though, they were way to long and way to numerous. On top of that I liked normal FPS fighting and that took away from it so I would like less driving sequences and then it would be a perfect game. I really hate vehicles in almost any FPS type game, well I wouldn't say hate but I just don't like it to much.

The Mako parts and planet exploring were the only disappointments to me. What they should do is make the Mako upgradable first-off; like, use credits to upgrade to a higher level of shields, armor, gun ammo, and attack power. Because truly, on the higher difficulties, the gun and the reticle's accuracy was horrible and the damage was weak. You were better off just waiting until the cannon recharged.

I just hated how the thing controlled. They need something with more gravity and traction, not one that will flip over if you run over a pebble. Alos, the fact that every planet that you could visit had the same gravity was kind of weird. What would be nice is to have the Mako pretty much stick to the surface as it moved... would make travel much faster and less frustrating..

What do you guys think? Did I nail it?

It is primarily an RPG, but as an action RPG, I think tighter combat mechanics would make it almost perfect. Its frustrating to try and get out of cover as an enemy is running right at you. I would also like to be able to use the squad controls to position my team more advantageousley. Sometimes it feels like the squad doesn't respond well to your commands. I forgot to add this in the Original post. New squad members in ME2 (I'm sure there will be.) but ideally the new members would be different races than have seen and as such would have new abilities and skill trees to develop.

i would say go the kotor approach. for instance each planet has it's own type of martian bad or good. what mass effect 2 needs is this. i thought the first game was a great story and game. the sequal needs to add more scifi stuff. dont have the same enemy on all the planets. as for plantes themselves id like to see weath conditions in part 2

What kills me about Mass Effect is lack of information. I mean, if start a mission, and come back to finish it the next day, I am busted. I keep running into halts and wonder what I need to do next.

I played about 5 hours of this game. It is still on the shelf.

The game looks cool, but please, give us more info where to go or what to do.

More inventive side quests

More in-depth squad commands

Improved DLC

FASTER LIFTS!

Edit: I'd also like to see references to the first game, considering we've been told to keep our Mass Effect saved games handy, I hope they can integrate references and flashbacks to what you did in Mass Effect 1. A tall order perhaps but it would still add an awesome amount of depth to the sequel.

Further Edit: I forgot about the Mako controls.....

8732_YoungJeezy

I figured someone would mention this. You realize those elevators were loading screens, right? I'd rather listen to Garrus and Wrex banter, or hear something about my exploits in the news, than read "LOADING." If you're actually saying, "Shorter loading times," then okay, I guess, though that's something you could say about a lot of games.

The only thing that really bothered me on the first game was item/equipment management. I would have liked it better if you had to pick up items from corpses rather than have them sent immediately to you, plus they should lower the amount of items dropped because there was too many on the first game which made it too easy. Also when you pick up items it should tell you more details about that item so I'll know whether to keep them or convert them to omni gel. I don't remember the names of all the add-on and stuff so that was a problem for me.

The PC version has improved Item managment. I would imagine it will only get better for ME2

While I agree with pretty much all that's said, I don't think the Mako needs better controls. What they need to do is give planets far far less mountains and change them out to flatter land with more scenary or even sloped rolling hills. Driving the Mako was a lesson in frusteration not because it controlled bad but because most of the time you were hopping back and forth over 70 degree inclines trying to find the path up the mountain that works. When the Mako was on flat land I didnt have a problem with it.

Beyond that I'll go with:

1. Space battles does sound good.

2. The obvious variety in side missions with longer more detailed storylines

3. Ability to seperate your squad ala the pc version

4. Better easier inventory management ala the pc version

The bonus: Ability to customize/paint your armor ala forza motorsport.

How i wonder, copy/paste Fallout 1 and add the space atmosphere, that's all.

This is probably a dumb idea, but I just laughed at the thought of it. How about instead using your ship to fight in outer space, you do like on Moonraker lol I'd

Trying to find/sell items was a pain! Do like EVERY OTHER GAME and make items sortable by categories! by far this was the most annoying thing to me. Also, I agree that they cheaped out on building design. Fix those things and it will help a lot.

Im late to this party but there is only one thing i really truly care about in ME that I wish would change. Battles!!. The battles in ME1 are super short and incredibly tacticless. I want 3-4-10x as many enemy soldiers spread through the compounds/battle area's. And I really really most important thing ever want the battles to be more stand offish. No bad guys should rush me. They should all be taking cover and trying to shoot at me. Mix an AGGRO system like from Army of Two with the ability to point and click to send your buddies to a more tactical position and we are talking some SERIOUS fun. I just want more realistic awesome gun battles from cover and a whole crapload of bad guys to kill.

If they can get those two things done then they can move on to replay and making it so that you can go back to places and there will be people to fight again.

mako controls

fewer planets, but with more content on them and varied environments

longer main quest

more interesting side quests

varied buildings involved in side quests, eg. visiting the same old building for every side quest

reason to explore apart from adding things to your codex and mining stuff, that u cant really use

this is a 50/50 improvement, being able to play the game after you have finished the main quest, because i remember playing through then getting up to the end in ME1 and not being able to continue with my quests, but this worked out well, with being able to replay your character with same lv, stats and equipment.

space battles sound nice

the dlc they promised

more weighted decisions, that have proper consequences

(apparently ME1 just fitted on 1 dvd , they should have 2 DVD's and u have to install the 2nd disk for extra content)

thats off the top of my head atm. but ME1 was a great game, bioware just promised a "little" too much than they delivered.
