mass effect 2 problem can some one help

im currently on my first playthrough , just picked up the game after completing the first one. im loving the game so far, but im struggling upgrading weapons as i find hardly any palladium any were :S and the other mats used to upgrade. am around 8 hours in just seen ashley again at the human colony so is it just im not far enough in to be finding the mats?

How much planet scanning and probing are you doing? That's easily the best way to get materials for upgrades.

This. You have to try and mine as many "rich" planets as possible

it may suck and be totally annoying.. but planet scanning is the only way to get loads of materials you need to upgrade

When you get back on the normandy and you can access the universe map fly the ship around and find a planet that isn't inhabited. You should get the option to scan the planet with probes. If you dont have probes you can buy them at gas stations around the galaxies. Just scan the planet til the ore detector goes crazy and shoot a probe = profit.
