Mass Effect 2 Review Embargoes

Review Embargoes are lame. It makes me wait til the reviews are up from the sites I trust til I buy a game. Which stinks. If your game is as good as all these devs make it out to be in their interviews, then put your money(ME2) where your mouth is by getting it to reviewers in a timely manner! It's getting to the point for me where I will stop buying games from devs who do this. Sucks for me, and sucks for the schlubs who do it to their loyal fans.

Well, he did give Mass Effect a 7, so he's probably not sure if he will enjoy the sequel.

Late reviews never bothered me. Maybe its because I hardly ever purchase a game based on reviews.

There are plenty of reviews already out...trust me.

It's not something to really blame the dev for, it's more to do with the websites/magazines than anything else. They'll offer any number of things (mainly free ad-space) to get an exclusive (read: embargo), and a dev would be foolish not to accept it.

A dev gives an exclusive -> publication gets a spike in readers -> some readers may become publication's customers.

I don't like it either, but there is a reason IGN has their review out and is also running a full page ME2 ad.

It's really not that big of a deal.

i like to see the reviews early i does help decide what to buy i know that just because a game gets a low score does not mean i wont like it but it doesgive you a ides of the polish the game has. some games i will buy no matter what like mass effect 2 but once i almost bought dark sector intill i seen the reviews and i am glad i only rented it and did not buy it . it wasa fun game but i was glad i did not spend $70 on it. so the review did save me there and with dark void to

IGN has 2 reviews up if you're interested in reading them.

So six reviews just aren't enough for you? Anyway I don't care about the reviews this is a day one purchase no matter what but it is averaging a 96 which isn't bad..

In about four hours I get to review it myself... by playing the game.
