I can't wait for ME2. I am a little confused how you are KIA though. I wonder if you really are alive in the game and people just think your dead, which is probably what will end up being the case. This game is another reason 360 owns.

No Sheppard isn't dead we have already been told the Mass Effect trilogy would follow his story, also the trailer shows the Cerberus logo which would lead me to believe they captured Shephard and covered it up.
I do not believe that Sheppard is dead. It just can't happen.
Watching the trailer made me want to give Mass Effect another go, which would be my third playthrough. I'm wondering though, is Bring Down the Sky a compelling enough reason to play through the story again? I've never played BDTS, but I'd like to know if it's worth 400 points.

It is pretty disappointing to be honest. I played it, and it was ok, not at all up to scratch with the rest of the game.

If nothing else pick you can always get the platinum hits edition that has BDTS with it.
