I'm just wondering if anyone knows the story behind the game. Mass Effect 2 was agreat disappointment in my eyes. I hope the third is better.

Reapers find Earth, Shepherd presumably saves Earth.

Also, could you elaborate on how Mass Effect 2 was disappointing? I did feel that they got rid of some of the rpg elements from the first game, but I don't know if I'd say I was disappointed in the final product...

*most, got rid of most of the RPG elements. way too dumbed down for my liking, i enjoyed it, but it felt more like a 3PS than an RPG

A lot of people are disappointed in ME2 because they nerfed or removed pretty much all RPG elements in it to the point it's pretty much just a TPS with dialogue options. Also instead of trying to fix the flaws like how some people didn't like the mako they just removed it. Mass Effect 2 is one of the most disappointing games I have ever played.. no loot, can't change the party members costumes, felt smaller, added useless crap like fuel that even when you run out does absolutely nothing. Then they did the same crap with Dragon Age 2 but even worse. If Mass effect 3 is like 2 or nerfed even more like DA2 was I'm not touching it.

Yes you could. I personally didn't think it wasn't that diluted of RPG elements anyway.

One costume.. compared to ME1 is pathetic and its just a color swap. Also I see you played DA2 so it makes sense you would say that.

Yes i played DA2 and i thought it was ok. Not the only RPG i've played though, i much prefer the action oriented RPG's to those linear turn based FF ones.

lol you serious? practically no armour options, only like 3 different weapons for each **** only 6 (+1 for advanced training) skills and for the solider 3 of those skills are ammo variants..., the citadel is 3 flat/linear floors, no exploration, no loot, no unique ammo upgrades that can be used by all c l a s s es

Thoughts on Mass Effect 3?

If BioWare does not put their thoughts together and stop "dumbing down" their games it might actually be as successful as the first one. Mass Effect 2 was a great 3rd person shooter. Get it? A Third Person Shooter!

i played Mass effect 1 and loved it. After playing Mass Effect 2 I won't be getting number 3 since they took away most of the rpg elements and it played like a shooter. I'm pro rpg and since I am, I was highly disappointed in mass effect 2. As far as I'm concerned you should not even call mass effect 2 an rpg. And yes I did play mass effect 2 until the end.

ME2 was a little watered down, but I still enjoyed it. The problem is after 3-4 playthroughs I found myself going back to the first game to continue to get my fix. Their wasn't enough depth and choices with the characters. They all pretty much end up the same. I hope 3 is a little more RPG heavy. Keep the improved shooting and work on more Biotic abilities and branching character trees.

I prefer Mass Effect 2 combat controls and powers over the first, but I enjoy the way the campaign and characters develop in the first, ME 2 got good things going for it, most planets although short were very different one from another, Shepards armor customization was pretty good for me, most weapon variants felt too fdifferent one from another, some likable characters, impressive presentation, on the downside... less characters to interact to (or at least felt like it, secondary missions were forgetable, no team armor customization, ammo upgrades were then turned into powers...the rest of the characters were trying to be too street & tough. so all in all what I'm hoping for ME 3 a more upgradable shepard, secondary missions to be a little deeper or well tought and have some sense (like admiral Kyle's) loot, maybe its ok to have 3 weapons but at least with slots for upgrades that all choices have a a conclusion and...for now thats all

I couldn't have said it better myself. As long as the story is GREAT & the gameplay is GREAT.oh...& the music is GREAT, I will be satisfied. I just want this one to be more darker as far as the story element is concerned.

Has anyone picked up on the recent Bioware Franchise trend? First game (Dragon age Origins, Mass Effect) expansive RPG's with unique combat, a great sense of character progression, and so on. Then when the sequel for the games i mentioned come along Bioware simplifies the combat and streamlines the experience. Don't get me Wrong i love ME2, DA2 both are fantastic games, but i started playing Origin's again and it blows the sequel out of the water. I think Mass Effect 3 will cater to both the "hardcore" and the mainstream action gamer.

ME2 I didn't like a single one of the new team. I didn't like how most if not all of the old team was so "meh" when you show up again. Given that you pretty much saved the galaxy the first time around you'd think they'd feel a little more akin to their old comrade showing up instead of a few dialogue options like "yeah nice to see you sorry I"m too busy now to save the galaxy again."

What I'd like to know is how they're going to save the galaxy given the events in the first game where the combined might of the goodies barely fends off one reaper and an entire fleet of them is incoming now. Upload a virus to their computers and shut down their network, then launch a nuke which blows up everything !1i111

I definitely see what you're saying, but I really think that going from ME1 to ME2 was an improvement, or at least a wash. I feel like the characters and dialogue improved from the first game. I also liked the weapon/armor and ship upgrade systems, and how choosing to upgrade or not had an impact on how the story ended. I think that only having a couple of each weapon type is kind of a wash. On the one hand, I really miss looking around for random loot. On the other hand, I definitely enjoyed not having to scroll through the menu to constantly be re-equipping better weapons and armor.

I do agree about how Origins blows DA2 out of the water though.
