This is what I would like to see in ME3. Please add to the list!

Possible ME 2 spoilers.

1. Bring back planet exploration, but with more interesting terrain. I really enjoyed the open roaming under alien skies, but they should let you fly the shuttle instead of being on the ground.

2. Resource scanning should be made more fun and less time consuming.

3. More 'secret' squad members like Morinth.

4. I want to see Tali's face in the new one.

5. Drastic consequences for decisions. I think it would be interesting if there was an ending where the Reapers win and everything gets destroyed.

6. Similar to #5, I want to see major effects from helping various factions in ME 1 and 2 (saving the Rachni, curing the genophage, rewriting the heretic geth)

7. It would be cool if there were seperate cooldown times for biotic, combat and tech talents, that way you could use two at once if you are a mixed class.

8. A very concrete explanation of the origins, nature, and motives of the Reapers.

9. Even more epic cutscenes (ME 2 was excellent in this regard)

10. A mission-only co-op mode, maybe even separate from the SP game entirely, ala GRAW 2. Think how awesome it would be to have two squads of three tearing it up in specially designed missions.

11. Have some secret items scattered around the uncharted worlds so you are getting more than just XP when you go exploring.

12. Better hacking/decryption minigames

13. Some sort of combat/talent bonus for a team member you romance.

14. Unique bosses that aren't just mercs with extra shielding/barriers/armor.

15. A longer main storyline. The richness of the side missions in ME2 is great, but there are only 5 main missons: Prologue, Colony, Collector Vessel, Derelict Reaper, Suicide Mission. Same with ME 1: Eden Prime, Feros, Noveria, Virmire, Ilos. I think that we should get at least 10 main story missions.

Honestly they can just keep up the good work and i'm sure 3 will be great.. but I really agree with you on the more drastic consequences from your actions.. I mean in 2 you would be reminded of a decision you made in 1, but it never really mattered.
I mean, I saved the arachni in one game, so I got a thank you from them.. big woop! have them come attack my ship because they went crazy again, or have them help me out during the suicide mission because they where repaying their debt..
I enjoyed roaming under the alien skies too. I'd also like to have the blue menu back from Mass Effect. Or have customizable menu colours like in fallout 3, so everyone wins. :)

If they bring back the roaming, make it more exciting. There were times when I thought I was going to hang myself of boredom driving from one point to another. Maybe if there were more enemies roaming around the planets it would be more exciting. Otherwise, I like whoever suggested to just allow you to fly around on the ship, maybe that would make it seem less tedious.

Take away the menus for karma meter. Don't highlight options either red or blue. That way the player doesn't say "well I have to pick this since i'm playing Paragon". Yet keep all the consequences and everything the same. Basically keep the system, just take away any notifications so you get a more natural karma system with players picking what they want rather than clicking the blue option just because.

Maybe if the Hammerhead is a success, they'll make it a permanent vehicle option for exploring in the next game. Hammerhead in action. I'm sure the levels associated with the Hammerhead will be fairly linear, but it looks like a fun way to get around.

I don't have much to complain about with the game although I'd also like enemies that are more unique and require more strategy to beat and a little bit more variety in combat situations as I felt that too often it was just wave after wave of enemies that the game was throwing at you. Flesh out the world a little more, add maybe one more city and make the Citadel bigger. Do something about planet exploration that makes it fun. And give the Game Salesman his own sidequest

During the Sheppard setup screen have an option: RPG or TPS. Depending on the selection I either get an RPG or a game that manages all my inventories, upgrades, loot searching... and just lets me shoot stuff and do dialog trees. ... and most of the stuff you said.
No scanning for minerals. Or at least allow me to streamline the process (i.e. insta-scan but only 80% of total minerals?).
I just want a more fleshed out story. I know ME2 is in effect leading into ME3, but the story ended waaaay to abruptly.

Yep, that's what I'm worried about. Sure I played ME2 and I really like the story, environment, setting... Now I just wish it was an RPG again.

Premise: I loved ME2. What can be improved in ME3 (possible SPOILERS ahead): 1. Bring back the inventory screen and the tiers for weapons and armor 2. Bring back the weapon/armor mods to fit in weapon/armor slots 3. Bring back the Mako 4. Bring back the Thresher Maws! One is not enough! 5. No more planet scanning. It's a tedious gimmick 6. Give us a higher ammo limit. Running out of ammo is annoying when it takes a whole clip to take down an average enemy 7. Stop trying to kill Dr. Chakwas! We all love her. 8. Resolve the Kaydan/Ashley plot hole 9. Close the Reapers storyline 10. MORE sniper ammo (why do you hate me?) 11. No more fuel limit. It discourages exploration 12. No more irreversible loyalty losses 13. Bring back the original walking animation for Shepard 14. Fix a few chronic bugs 15. Keep up the good work!

I think you did quite the research here and I follow you completely. I love the idea of #10. I think I got goosebumps just thinking of it. But co-op in single-player would be nostalgic.. And more sequences like the opening of the game. When I popped in ME2, I didn't expect that opening sequence.. the Normandy splitting apart.. everything is chaotic, dark, I was blown away... I want to see more of that in ME3. More of a dark, intense game.

if that happens i wont be buying any more RPGs, i would prefer not to play casual RPGs aka a slightly more in depth 3PS

Just finished ME2 thought it had huge problems:

Bring back armour for your team. Hunting for the best Quarian armour for Tali in the first game was one of my favourite bits.

A quest that doesn't just involve finding new requits and then solving their personal problems.

A much better end battle than ME2, more like ME1 because hte ME2 end battle isn't as good in any way.

More information about what damage different weapons do and what type.

Bring back weapon customisation.

Make more of an effort to increase the areas you can access on Illium, Tchunka, the Fleet and even the Citadel, each area you can access is tiny in comparison to the size of the location you are in.

Have planet side landing using the Hammerhead that is preceeded by an initial planet wide scan by EDI to give you the locations of resource deposit.

Increase the life on the planets, more big beasties to kill like the Thresher Maw.

Have more small areas that you can discover and solve small quests these were sorely missed in ME2

Reduce the team slightly so you can concentrate on the members of the team that still exist.

I'm sorry did we play the same game? I never ran out of ammo on normal setting using an Engineer with a Submachine Gun, Carnifex, Shotgun and more often than not the beam laser as my heavy weapon. In fact 9 times out of 10 I solely use the Carnifex. Sometimes it ran low on Ammo but then I had three other weapons to kill things with.

The opening is about the best bit of the whole game. When you walk into the area before the cockpit and bump into the chair and it just slowly floats away that's just awesome. After that everything else is a bit 'samey' and less epic.

i really like ME 2 with all its little upgrades scaning the planets for hours on end like a science officer should. Way better then insta dead by an unseen emimie underneath you.

whatever colour armor you wanted... cool sheilds and powers to boot! they are only going up from here!
