I really like it. I have played like 15 hours and I only beat one planet and rescued a new teammate(which is the shortest mandatory mission). It's good. The combat is fun, but some people say it isn't. It's a great game.
Definately get it, it's an amazing game on its own with tons of replayablity but they're also going to add episodic content that would lead up to mass effect 2 so the story never really ends with this game (Though Mass Effect definately has an ending, so don't think it's like Halo 2).
The storyline is very good and immersive you really feel like you're in a completely different but very realistic world. Plus the story changes depending on how you play.
Game's addictive. I didnt like it at first cause it doesnt tell u really about the combat system but when u get the hang of it..man listen. lol. Story is really good. Im on my second play through. Beat the game in like 25hrs just doing the main storyline missions mostly. Now im doing all the side missions I can. I can see this being 40hrs easy.
eh don't listen to paradise. he's the only one in this forum that spews negativity so obviously he's just in the for attention. it's an amazing game, with amazing characters you will actually grow to love, the story is fantadstic, music is a perfect match of sci-fi and modd that jus tmakes you feel like the galaxy really is in your hands. and lets not forget that picking someone up and then chunking them across the room to a smashing defeat never gets old.
Itt's Very Good... "Highly Addictive" This game sucks you in and the more you put into it, the more you like it. if you are just a gamer who likes to whizz by a storyline and play online(Me) this game might still be worth picking up. If you however like to relax, kick back and play something that is not as action packet this game is perfect. It makes you shoot for level ups and the Achievements are fun Too. The storyline is good too. BUT>>>>> %There is one "Slight"(BIG) Problem with this game... Too Many BUgs! this really bothers me but i still love the game. Sometimes you will see someone just walking and they will either twitch (unaturall) or pop out of nowhere. my first hour of this game, i got stuck and had to go back to my last save because my charactrter could not move... This game is very ambitious and the combat system is spectacular. I love how you can Stop..... take your time to think about an Action, or Change weapon and reume with the battle.... This game is great and definetly deserves to be picked up around this holiday season.
hell yeeah 26+hrs into and can put the controller down sometimes. and being that im infatuated with space this game has moved up to my #1 spot! but the only thing i an say bad about this game is that some of the textures load slow and i get stuck on a wall while walking or taking cover! just make sure you save often!
15 hours in, I'd say its very good, but slightly overrated. I think an 8.5 was the perfect score to give it. However, I have yet to finish the game, so I reserve my final judgement till then. Either way, its a game you won't regret buying, if you know what you're getting yourself into, of course.
I beat it in 13 hours flat. I did all main quest, very few side quests.
Theres like 100 planets and like tons of systems to go to and expl0re, I chose not to.
Im going for the achievements now, so I assume i'll put about 20 hours into the game total.
Its got soem replay value too, but I may not playh through it agin, Im not sure.

Wow. You're a real hero. :P Have you ever tried playing games for the actual fun they provide? Assassins Creed took me longer than 13 hours. More like 30 (doing all the side quests etc.). I've already played Mass Effect for 6 hours and haven't even left the Citadel even once! I'm still doing side quests and exploring. I guess Mass Effect will keep me entertained for the next 50-70 hours.
There is so many reasons that you MUST own Mass Effect if yo own a xbox 360. I think it combines the style of GoW with some good RPG elements of oblivion. Also the whole conversation piece of the game is very advanced. I find my self just replaying the same parts over because they always have a different outcome. I have never been a advocate for a game but this one takes the cake. The only bad part about this game though are the driving missions, other then that its an instant classic.
GOTY as far as I'm concerned. I'm on my 2nd playthrough right now and I remain completely satisfied with Mass Effect and always will be...Disturbed_King
I Agree, this game is GOTY in my book.
Nothing on the 360 comes even close to mass effect this year.
This is why I'm so dissapointed with the rating that Gamespot gave to this game. This is like the second or third thread I've seen on this. That all being said, 8.5 is still a pretty good score and I see why they gave it that but I disagree with them. If you check around the web you will see that this score is actually on the low end of the spectrum. The average I've seen from 33 sources is 9.1 or 9.2 something like that, it is above a nine though. Not to say Mass Effect doesn't have it's flaws: Intentory, Technical Issues, and Squad AI is so so, but despite all of those and I'm sure there are other complaints that can be made, but this game still holds a solid 9 because this game is that great. So definately a buy.

Other than a few small glitches, the game is amazing. It definitley deserved a better score than Gamespot gave it. The story is one of the best I have ever played in a game. The combat system is pretty tight once you get used to it. Graphics are stunning. The main quest alone is around 15 hours, but if you add the sidequests it ends up being a lot more. It also has a lot of replay value because you can choose different classes the second time around and you can choose between being "good cop,bad cop". It's a must have and you won't regret it.
