Mass Effect Class questions

I'm playing the game as a soldier on my 1st playthrough... Or is it more fun to play other classes? Do you have more than 1 character file?

Vanguards are pretty good, but my favorite character was the pure Biotic I used on my second playthrough. Using Lift, Throw, Barrier, Singularity and Warp almost felt like cheating!
