Mass Effect - Game of the Year Candidate?

Is Mass Effect a Game of the Year candidate? Is it better than Halo 3? Is Bioshock in the running? I am just curious about these questions and how others feel about the games mentioned. I am looking forward to Mass Effect and I loved Bioshock, I was less thrilled with Halo 3 - I felt a lot of hype and only minorexcitement while playing. Let me know what you think!KMRB

Mass Effect is definatly my pick for GOTY after seeing some of thee new videos today.

But, in most RPGs you actually have to THINK and since most people don't have that ability they prefer a crappy FPS with barely a story and just want to KILL! KILL! KIIIILL !!

Also, I am only curious, as a consumer - because I equate Mass Effect to the likes of Half Life 2 in its uniqueness and its gameplay. Even though it has not come out yet - one can observe these types of qualities.

Why dont you stop contributing to these so called "Game of the Year" topics as its pointless especially when a game such as Mass Effect has not even been released. You say "nobody asked you to answer my question" yet you did ask everyone on these boards. Not to mention that Mass Effect is a completely different game genre compared with Halo 3, Bioshock and Half-Life 2.

Other than your annoying comment, the question still stands: Genre doesn't matter - OVERALL GAME OF THE YEAR does - so is Mass Effect, Bioshock, or Halo 3 going to clentch that title? I don't see any other game doing it...

Yeah, ME is a Halo 3 rip off, + awesome story + 3rd person + ROLEPLAYING + Cinematic + TALKING + Choices + free roaming + leveling + costumization + ability to play as a male or female and change their face and their armor + party members + tactical battle ( give commands to your squad members ) - boring - FPS - multiplayer

It has the potential to be the game of the year. Bioware make consistently great games. Yes that does include Jade Empire.

I think if Mass Effect lives up to the hype and the reviews that have already come out that it has good chance of being GOTY.

It wouldn't take much to be better Halo 3 IMO. It had good MP, but poor SP and not really anything new.

Bioshock was just okay IMO. It had good story and soem interesting characters, but just didn't live up to the hype IMO.

Gah, stop bashing on him. I thought the same thing until i started doing research on it

im 4 hours into mass effect right now so i am far from being able to review it or give any final thoughts. What I can say is that I love the game. I expected to since the KOTOR series is one of my favorites of all time. This game is not a shooter really, its an RPG first.

With that being said, i think it definetly has competition for GOTY. Bioshock was amazing, orange box was amazing, mass effect is great so far, and im loving mario galaxy.

I say, if Orange Box is considered one game, than orange box wins. Next bioshock, than mass effect.

Its most likely going to be a canidate, and very well may win GOTY here on gs for 360. Because based on the Crysis review that game will win the overall goty
