Most games avg around 8-10 hours,also by the sound of it I guess you never played the first Kotor game?.
I think any Rpg thats not at least 20Hr long is to short. that bieng said if it deliver's a inovative new gaming experience like it is bieng hyped it could be 5 hr's long and be good. I just finished the main story in Blue Dragon 60+ hrs already andhaveprobally like 30 hrs more content side quest,Dragons and achievments. I heard they are gonna be realsimg random dungeongenerater too. I haven't xp grinded at all that 60hrs was content. That to me is what a RPG should be. Like neverwinter Knights. Can't wait for Mass Effecy. I bet your right and its short, seems like you have to get a jrpg or PC rpg to get that epic content I used to get on my nintendo...

It'll be longer then 12hrs, just like KoToR. It is an RPG you know. I say no less then 40hrs.
There seems to be a growing number of people who prefer their games a little on the shorter side, due to busy lifestyles, etc. and that's cool - you're right when you state that only 5 hrs long but good, is still - well - good! I'm hoping that Mass Effect turns out to be one of those games like Oblivion, where you can really move along at your own pace. Having said that, the fact that it's heavily story driven could imply a shorter over-all experience...
it wont be only 12 hours but i will be disappointed if its less than 30 hours. why? because for an rpg 30 hours isnt that epic. as much as i loved jade empire i was disappointed that i beat it in 20 hours. this games effect has to be mass lol sorry bad joke
I'm sure you're right - 12 hours might be the case for a '3rd person shooter with RPG elements' but Mass Effect is being billed as a full-fledged RPG... oh, and your joke really wasn't that bad - I mean, don't quit your day job, but not that bad at all...
I'd be throughly disappointed and I'd feel as if I'd been lied to. After all, the game is being marketed as a gigantic, open-ended RPG in which you can traverse galaxies. 12 hours and i'll be very, very disappointed. Main campaign might be 12 hours, and I wouldn't mind that, as long as the side content is enough to keep me playing for a long time to come.
it probably will be preety short except i usually take my time and explore, gain levels do side quests etc.. i'm playin two worlds and the game apparaently should take 6 hrs to complete i'm allready 10 hours in and havent really started the main quest line thats what i did with oblivion and thats what i'll do with mass effect i just hope they make it longer than 8 hrs
