It's such a close call for me, I love FPS's and Bioshock looks something very different, but a good different, but Mass Effect is huge, and I always love the challange of completing huge games...
I guess I'm going to have to go with Mass Effect, just because there are already going to be great FPS's in Halo 3 and CoD4, so I'm going to need something different to play...
Mass Effect, no question. It looks very in depth and interesting. The prequel novel was pretty cool too.
Although I am going to look into Bioshock(most likley a rent), since it looks weird.
At first i was more excied for Bioshock, but after watching some gameplay videos for Mass Effect i gotta say im more hyped for it now. What are you more hyped for?Owned_Noob
Bioshock, I am a huge RPG nut, but ME still doesn't have a stable framerate from what I seen/read and heard from people at 1up and ign, Bioshock has so many great things that appeal to me.
My vote went to Mass Effect, but here's the deal: Right now I am more excited about BioShock than Mass Effect because it is coming out next month and looks absolutely amazing. However, come October and November I will be more excited about Mass Effect coming out then I am for BioShock right now, I think.
Once done Oblivion I will need an almost never ending game to replace it, one I can take 6 months to complete because I pick at it once in a while... I like those games and always like having one in my collection when my current games get a little boring. This is why Mass Effect wins, but really only for that reason.
Both games will be amazing.
BIOSHOCK.
"We all make choices..."
This one, for me, is simple.
The wait for this game is finally almost over. I watch the first trailer at least once a day. It is one of the most awesome, perfectly made, memorable cinematics I've seen, and offers a riveting insight into the beginnings of the game's story. I love the era the game is set in. The music, the art deco architecture. Then there's the underwater bathysphere. A idealistic society's city that was home to only the best and full of hope but was "betrayed by the weak." I just love the creepy atmosphere and the feeling of isolation, despite being in the constant company of others. Others who are lost in their own minds, living ghosts of the past. The game is all about morality versus survival, full of choices and consequences. The gameplay is somewhat commonplace, being a FPS. That is until you start dealing with the plasmids. You can enrage enemies and make them attack another. Catch a grenade in mid-air and hurl it back where it came from. Light enemies on fire (or light something on fire and throw it at them), and watch as they run to water, then use electricity to shock the water. Put a trap or mine on the ceiling and put a trap on the ground that hurls them up into it. Engulf them with bees. We've all seen it, I know. But it never gets boring. Research the fallen. Fight Big Daddy's or don't. Kill the Little Sisters. Ok ok or don't. No linear, follow this hallway, read this message, (travel to this planet) etc. story. Do what you want, how you want. BioShock is different from most any other game, but for a lot of promising reasons.
Mass Effect looks amazing. I can't deny that. Really sharp graphics, intense gameplay, interesting and complex story. Travel all over the universe. Plus it has Julius from Saints Row. But it seems more "already been done" than BioShock. A culmination of Halo and Oblivion (I know, what could be better, right?). I am definitely going to check it out more and give it a try at some point, but I have a friend who is already strongly behind it who will probably show and tell me all about it. I will be enjoying BioShock by then, of course. But ultimately, I'm not that interested in being welcomed to a new galaxy.
"Welcome to Rapture" is much more like it.
