Price: Oblivion Story: Mass Effect Action: Oblivion's is kind of monotonous but it has more powers to work with. The hand to hand combat isn't great. I'm a shooter person so I enjoyed ME's more. Graphics: ME longevity: Oblivion by far. My personal opinion: ME.

Both great RPGS and all rpg fans should have them both. But in my opinion Oblivion = 9 or 9.5/10 and Mass Effect = 9.5 or 10/10

price: if they were both the same price, then they'd give comparable value. but because ESIV has been out for so long, it's cheaper (duh), and so i'd say go with that. story: Mass Effect. it's far superior..... i didn't care for the characters at all in Oblivion. they killed the stand out voice actor off in the first five minutes.... but the voice actors in ME are all equal, believable and quality. it has stock elements that you find in a lot of sci-fi, but it doesnt matter, it is awesome. graphics: Mass Effect. but this would be based on the fact Oblivion is older. Oblivion looks great, its just the character models in ME are soooo good. all the characters in ESIV were ugly. sure, there are texture pops in ME, but they are minor, you don't actually care. longevity: this one is difficult. i got around 120hrs out of Oblivion before i got bored of it.... but i've played about 75 of Mass Effect, and i'm all good on that still. both are worth th emoney, in terms of how long you will play. however: you must play ME as an RPG to get that much time..... as a shooter, it's mid length, but it will not be as rewarding. basically, i;m saying Mass Effect all the way. it's one of the best games i have ever played, whereas Oblivion wasn't as good as the game that came before it in the series, Morrowind.

if you tight on money...oblivion...im playing it now instead of call of duty 4 for my friends can catch up to my rank...besides that my boy has mass effect and says its great so if you not tight on money and you love shooting...go for ME...you could buy oblivion used for 10 bucks for sure though...so consider both if possible...you wont regret it...

Although I like Mass Effect more, if I was short on money I'd buy Oblivion and then play it and hopefuly by the time I'm done I'll have money for Mass Effect (maybe it'd even go down in price lol)

Short? Did you do EVERYTHING in mass effect? Not that short. Not to mention the replay value the game has.

Get Mass Effect. Oblivion is fun for a while but after a 20 hours of doing the same things over and over again, it becomes more annoying than fun.

I played Oblivion when the game was released and played it for about 8 hours but did not like it. However, I played Mass Effect when it was released and it was a great game. I even beat the game and did all but a few Side Missions. Hope this helps you.

NO NO NO. Oblivion is way better by far. There is so much to do and see in this game. Plus its cheap, ME is 60 bones. wouldnt you rather buy oblivion and play that while waiting for ME price to drop. Oblivion is the best game ever made so you should buy it instead.

Oblivion goty edition is like the orange box of fps. It gives you a lot of bang for your buck. You could play it 100+ hours before your bored.

Story- Mass effect. Oblivion had a good story, but you could finish it in 10 hours.

Graphics- Tie. Now mass effect has better graphics, but oblivion runs a lot better. Mass effect has some really bad framerate issues.

Gameplay- Oblivion, but by a small hair. Mass effect is more of an rpg, while oblivion can be played like an action game. The entire game scales with you in oblivion, so you don't have to level up.

I'm going to go with oblivion *game of the year edition is what you should get though, unless you only have about 30$*. But do at least rent mass effect. Someday, you'll probably want to pick it up as well.

Oblivion is the horrilbe child of RPG and Hack and slash.

It's not a bad game but it certainly lost it's way during development and if you've played many great rpgs you can see that it isn't anything more than "good".

Oblivion is the better game in my opinion. You'll be getting an amazing storyline, an open world, and a lot of memorable sidequests, along with characters. Mass Effect is not only more expensive, but it also has texture popup problems, along with some framerate issues. Make your choice from that information.

Oblivion...while the main story in Mass Effect is better, Oblivion has 5 comprable ones. It's definitely longer, and the world is bigger, and more varied. You should eventually get Mass Effect, but Oblivion GOTY is a better choice if you can only pick one...

Yeah, you could finish the MAIN quest in about 10-15 hours but you dont because there is so much more to do than just the main Quest. Guilds, random people give you quests, you can explore Tamriel, caves, ruins, towns, farms, oblivion gates to shut etc. etc. etc. Its more than just the main quest...

You'd be well advised to disregard the above. Oblivion is worth the 9+ score it averages, and its alot more than just "good".

You're welcome.

I think the thing with Oblivion is that theres so much open-ended gaming there, it can almost be a deterent to those RPGers who are used to "go here next" signs. If you need to be told where to go and you can only handle worrying about one "quest" at a time, Oblivion can be a bit overwhelming.

Truth is you can't go wrong with either.
