mass effect or oblivion?!

what are the ups and downs of each game?

and overall which one do you think i should get?

get both. both are great

Mass Effect is good but short but you can start a new game with an old character thay youve had. Combat is fun in vehicles and on foot. Exploring the galaxy is heaps of fun too. SLOW loading but good graphics

Oblivion is great and there is always something to do. The story is long and the combat is good but could have been better. Its easy to get lost in the huge map.

I have both and recomend getting both

Mass Effect Disadvantages-
Horrible Cover system
Horrible Tutorial
Not a huge weapon variety. *Rifle Name* Version 1-10 and so on.
Choices dont really affect the ending.
Texture Popping so frequent and annoying
Frequent Auto-saving
Minor glitches
Main quest doesnt take to long
Once youre done the main quest, its game over.

Oblivion Advantages-
Amazing world
Characters do their own thing
Decent story
Fantastic Expansion packs
Very good graphics
Nice variety in weapons
Countless Side-quests
Fun guilds
Game continues even after main quest is over.

Oblivion Disadvantages-
Lag is frequent upon discovering new areas
Pretty Easy in the start
Main quest doesnt take to long
Bad (IMO) Third Person view

When it comes down to it, both games are amazing but it depends on which time period you like. Im really into medival type settings, while I love sci-fi, I think theyre better.

I'd go with Oblivion (120+ hours) over Mass Effect (70 hours)

I would also go for Oblivion....you could probably get twice as many hours out of it..

Both good games but...

Mass Effect > Oblivion in my opinion

Mass Effect has the better story, combat, characters and atmosphere.

Oblivion has a much longer game, open ended, more freedom and has a great expansion pack

In the end you might get more time out of Oblivion, but Mass Effect is the better experience, at least for me personally.

I thouht I was the only one. I myself was in that same position at a local circuit city. I looked at Mass effect the Oblivion then pondered which one to get. I choose oblivion. At first I thought I should have gotten Mass effect but a week later I truly grasped what Oblivion had to offer. So much to do and huge ladscape I was engulfed in the world. I got the Game of the year addition and have almost all downloadabe content as well. Oblivion was such a good game I find myself wanting to play that and only that. Sometimes......

Oblivion, especially now that the game of the year version is out that comes with Knights of the Nine and Shivering Ilses.

But to each his/her own.

I have the both and the both are great. However, i prefer oblivion because it is amazing and long.

Oblivion is a boring, unoriginal crapfest with dumbed down RPG elements, crap story, 5 voice actors, awful AI and abysmal animations. LEVEL SCALING.

Mass Effect has mediocre combat, stiff voice acting, several conversation choices which have the exact same outcome (on the other hand Oblivion has no significant choices during the entire game) and poor story.

Why do these games get so much praise?
