is it possible for me to still get the insanity achievement by using this method. i use my existing character who i made on veteran difficulty and who is level 58, then before i leave to eden prime, change the difficulty to insanity, so i have my character still. will this still give me the achievement?

I'm pretty sure this method works but to be sure I recommend you check out Bioware's Mass Effect forum. They would have more definite information.

i already tried but couldn't get a specific answer to my question. :/ i didn't make an account there, just browsed topics to see if i could find anything related to it. figured i'd get a bigger response here, which seems more alive.

If I remember correctly you need to have cleared the game on the Hardcoredifficulty to unlock the Insane difficulty.

If you have done this, just start a new game, selecting your existing LVL 58 character and select Insane difficulty before starting. Just make sure the difficulty is set to Insane before landing on Eden Prime (sometimes it changes I think) and play through to unlock the Insane achievement. Thats how I got it.

Good Luck!

After you have beaten it on hardcore you can pick whatever character you want and chose the insanity difficulty to start. You must have set the difficulty before Eden Prime!

You can start a new game with an existing character and still get the Insane difficulty achievement. Assuming you have unlocked the Insane difficulty, just start a new game, select the existing character, set the difficulty to Insane in the options menu aboard the Normandy when the game starts and MAKE SURE it is still set to insane before landing on Eden Prime. Then finish the game.

This definitely works, I got the Insane achievement and the Extreme Power Gamer achievement on my final playthrough using a previous lvl 58 character from a hardcore playhtrough.

Good Luck!
