Looks like they don't want to affect the the difficulty curve. Only your decisions will be passed on to ME 2.

PS: The game looks sick and I can't wait....

I know, I'm just warning those that are trying to make a level 60 character in order to move the stats into ME 2 :P

For me, that would ruin ME2 to a certain point. A huge part of the fun in ME 1 was building your character, like in all rpgs.

I didn't think they would carry over, anyway, seemed inbalanced. But still, imagine how much different everyone's experiences in ME2 will be by the end, or ME3! Reviewers will have a tough time, thats for sure.

I dont care about the stats not moving over as the hole fun of the game is the leveling up it would just spoil it for me if the stats were transfered

Stats may not carry over, but it seems your level at the end will have an impact on ME2, in some way or another. So might be a reason to get a lvl 60 saved game.

"If you start with a save game from Mass Effect, your character's level will be appropriate to the difficulty level where you begin in Mass Effect 2." - Chris Priestly.

"The relative strength of your character will earn you bonuses when you import them into the game." - Preston Watamaniuk

Anyone know if we'll be able to choose classes again? I am the one with half combat + half biotic. I would like to change for ME2, or do I have to play again (which I won't)

Maybe they'll handle this similarly to how they handled it in KOTOR 2. In KOTOR 1 you developed into a Jedi from scratch. In KOTOR 2, you were of course a different character, but a Jedi already. So similar powers that you developed in the first game were basically base class powers that you already had in the second game. In ME2, perhaps the class of character you were in ME1 carries over. So if you were a Sentinal in the first game, those powers are at a base level that you can still upgrade, but not necessarily at a "noob" level from game 1. And there are plenty of new powers to acquire. Does that make sense? I'm just speculating. I hope they included the ability to develop cross class abilities. I was a Sentinal but wish I could at least develop the use of the assult rifle to some effect instead of just the pistol. It made carrying those other weapons that your class could not use (even for the NPC allies) useless and a waste of inventory space. Which is another thing I hope they changed. Why have everyone in your party carry a Sniper rifle if they didnt' have the skill to use it?

Just having your decisions passed on I think is freaking awesome. I will have to play through Mass Effect again & determine exactly what decisions I want to pass with me.

Oh man I haven't looked forward to a game this much in a long time

Not bothered at all that the stats don't transfer. Even if the difficulty curved to balance it, then you would be going through the game without much leveling to do. Part of the fun is starting out simple and by the end, everyone in your party is just tearing it up. I'm really excited about the idea that decisions made in the first game will follow you into the second game, though. New standards.

What decisions will be transfered? I hope just the main story decisions. I played through the game a second time for the DLC and I didn't really do any side missions because they are pretty repetative.

Well our stats won't be dragged but does that include what type of class your character is? Would seem odd to have a soilder in ME:1 and your same character learns biotic in ME:2.

Some side quests will be transferred as well. But as long as you did them the first time you beat the game, you can just select that save game for when you start ME2. Every time you beat the game ME makes a save game for New Game+.
