With the Halo trilogy ending a new one is beginning in Mass Effect. I think that Mass effect will do to RPG's what Halo did to shooters, casualize them and make them more mainstream. Mass Effect wil be a big title with a loyal following similar to Halo in my mind. Something has to overtake Halo and this title seems to be it.
it's a shooter oriented rpg, so it really isn't getting that far from the whole shooting thing, but at least you have magic and different abilities to give it a more rpgish feel.
As to Mass Effect being the one game that makes rpgs more mainstream, i'll have to disagree. Oblivion already did that by being the top scoring game in both the xbox 360 and the ps3.

Ok, well the problem with that logic is that Mass Effect is going to be good and Halo is mediocre, and bordering on lame.
