I was going to pick up Mass Effect, but I have never really completely enjoyed a Bioware game. Lost Oddessy is just around the corner and I think I'm going to wait for it. It deffinately has the pedigree for a game that I will enjoy, however after the Blue Dragon Demo that pedigree doesn't mean a whole lot. For some reason I have it set in my head that Blue Dragon was just a practice run for Mistwalker, and that Lost Oddessy is the main course.
better yet, pick up mass effect, because it is an amazing game, and then trade it in and put the money towards LO when it comes out. honestly from what i saw of LO im iffy on it, it reminds me alot of old ps1/ps2 RPGs, but im not sure if its in a good way, the linier enviroments are starting to be a thing of the past
well for me LO is a skip i dont like turn based games they are just boring to me. Mass Effect is a live action RPG which ifar prefer and IMO is the best 360 game out. It really comes down to what style rpg you prefer.
It all depends on what kind of RPGs you like, but its already a known fact that mass effect is great. IMO i think LO won't be as great, i aint saying its not gonna be good. but you will just have to wait and see how it turns out.

With the gameplay videos and trailers, it looks horrible IMO. I don't like JRPG's but the whole turn based, giant swords mixed with guns, bad voice acting, and me being lazy and not wanting to put in separate disks in.

From the video and gamelpay clips. If you're a JRPGs fan, this is something not to be missed. try viewing the battle vudeo footage...similar to FF (turn based, limit breaks..etc).
I love JRPGs, I played through FF7, 9, 10 and Xenogears multiple times. That being saidLO looks like it will be pretty awesome.
All of that being said, if you are a RPG fan even a little you absolutely can not miss Mass Effect. It is going to set a new standard for how WRPGs are done.
power to ya for waiting on a solid RPG, but Lost Oddessy I think not :roll: Something about Blue Dragon was a major turn off from demo to full game for me, and even tho I appreciate the RPG selection and Japanese pressence on the 360... LO doesn't look like anything worth 60 bucks.

I suppose having LO in the mean time wouldn't hurt, but I rather rent a game that looks 5 years old in gameplay than own it.
Mass Effect was weak, Tech Issues broke my heart and the game was real boring, to me anyway. As for LO i'm not a huge fan of Turn-Based RPGs, it's Next-Gen yet were still using a 20 year old combat system. I am Heartbroken. But hey, some people do like Turn-Based, soap as long as it sells I guess who cares, huh? Word.
I love JRPGs, and I hated blue dragon with a passion. I never thought it looked good, but I DO think Lost Oddeyssey looks amazing. Can't wait for it. That said, I also love Bioware games, and Mass Effect was awesome.
But yeah, don't judge Lost Oddessey by blue dragon. COmpletely different games.
Mass Effect is amazing, glitches aside. It has jarring texture and bump-map pop-in, and I even got stuck in a room on two of my game saves (door wouldn't open after loading the save), but I still wouldn't trade it. Yes, it's that good. Without the glitches it would have been perfect.
You should definetly pick up Mass Effect as it is an amazing game, one of the best for the 360. Also, contrary to what many seem to think, i believe Lost Odyssey will be a great RPG. I am a fan of both real time and turn based RPG's and have been waiting for a good turned based one for awhile. I own/played Enchanted Arms and it wasn't bad, but it wasn't what i have been waiting for. It was just there, nothing really special about it. Anyways, to finish off, I'd say pick up both so you won't miss out.
