only half true, it is exactly that, seriosly spoiler to read more here: there were more than the master cheif to survive of his outfit, he just doesnt know it yet. when reach was destroyed thats the last he saw of his team, he didnt actually witness their deaths. second, there is a new spartan project that i believe will be introduced during halo3. with new types of armor. the new types of armor are faster moving, but lack the overall armor protection. and this is all if you read the books.
