Yes. You can take off/put on different hard drives to all 360 models. Or you could use a USB stick to add memory.limpbizkit818where have you seen slim HDDs sold seperately?

hmmm, dont have them in australia yet :PI just bought a new Xbox 360 "S"(4gb) hoping to attach my 250gb hard drive (for original Xbox) that I bought in May of 2010. I did not realize they were not compatible until got the new one home.
So is there any way to make my original hard drive work with the new Xbox? With out making the money I just spent to upgrade to 250gb hard drive a complete waste.
Such as attaching hard drive to a usb port using the transfer cable and running the memory off of it. I do have a transfer cable that came with the 250gb hard drive
You can pull the HDD out if the casing and stick it in as-is or put it in a special enclosure snagged from eBay or elsewhere. Or you could sell it and invest in one made for the Slim. They have generic versions on eBay for $70.I just bought a new Xbox 360 "S"(4gb) hoping to attach my 250gb hard drive (for original Xbox) that I bought in May of 2010. Just to respond to the topic, yes you can expand your memory. For example if you have a 256 MB Arcade you can buy a 20 GB HDD you can just attach it to it easily. If you have an xbox 360 slim then you can put 250 GB in it as well if you have 4 GB. Just so you know, original xbox 360 HDD's aren't compatible with the Xbox 360 Slim's HDD.
Just so everyone knows, I read somewhere that certain games (Halo Reach) will not work online with the 4gb slim xbox, you need to get more memory, AND that memory cannot be from a USB drive it needs to be an actual harddrive for some reason.
To this day I still do not understand why anyone would buy the 4gb slim and then pay over $100 to buy a 250gb harddrive. Sure, you end up with 254 gb in the end, but why not just buy the 250gb slim to begin with? The only way it would be worth it is if you 4gb slim came in a bundle with MORE than $100 worth of free stuff. Even then, its silly to me.

The memory issue is only Halo Reach and ODST, and only co-op game mode. You can still play online. Aslo Microsoft has goine on record saying the issue is "temporary" and that the company is "working to resolve it." As for buying the slim and then buying the 250gb hard drive, I agree that wouldn't make much sense, but not everyone needs that much space. What you seem to not understand though is that for most people 20gb is plenty of space, and since you can get a 16gb flash drive for about $30, why pay more than you need to? If you need more space, buy another flash drive. Also to answer the few questions about the flash drives, read this http://www.xbox.com/en-US/storage/ I use the standard SanDisk 16gb flash drives for my 360[QUOTE="Jurassic85"]The memory issue is only Halo Reach and ODST, and only co-op game mode. Actually USB sticks will not work to allow you to play the co-op mode. Here is one of many articles about the harddrive error:
http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/15/halo-reach-co-op-requires-hard-drive-4gb-xbox-360-slims-have-t/
I actually don't think that 20gb is enough for most people. If the gamer is installing games to their harddrive as recommended, they would only be able to fit about 3 on their harddrive, not to mention space for any DLC or live arcade games.
