My first Metal Gear game was "Metal Gear Solid" for the Playstation in 1998. I remember taking control of Snake and sneaking around enemy compounds while knocking out countless guards along the way. That IS Metal Gear. It's been a long time since then, but then I learned Sons of Liberty was released for the Xbox. This made me excited and gave me an old, fun feeling until...I was controlling a girly ninja man named Raiden. I looked all around for a "chose your character" option for Snake. There wasn't one. I just wanted to turn off my Xbox and return the game, but I went with it. Then about half way, I was given control of Snake and felt a little better, but I wanted Snake from the start. Metal Gear lives and dies by Snake, and without him, it's just not Metal Gear.

The HD collection is coming soon to the Xbox 360 and will include Sons of Liberty, Snake Eater (cool title), and Peace Walker. Problem is I already played Sons of Liberty and Guns of the Patriots is missing. This is another great game franchise now being mismanaged and missing opportunity. Really, the wise move would be to remaster every Metal Gear game in HD on a multi-disc set and charge $120. That's a small price to pay for all that content. I don't want a piece of the story; I want the whole story.

Rising is in development and I was excited for another intense story-cinematic-sneaking game from the mind of Hideo. But then I read, ugh, Raiden will be the game's main character and the focal point ninja sword slashing and collecting cyborg metal parts, and I stopped reading. If Rising is the disappointment I strongly feel it will be, my last Metal Gear game will be the HD collection until the franchise returns to its sneaky-Snake roots.

Do you also dislike Raiden and want Guns of the Patriots on the Xbox 360?

I already put it in Kojima Production's suggestion box. Please do the same. Google the address and click the Contact Us link.

Even if raiden is girly or whatever, MGS sons of liberty remains one of the best games i've ever played, I've already played guns of the patriots, but it should be released for 360 players to enjoy. I don't think a game can have the name Metal gear in it and be disappointing tbh.

There was plenty of Snake gameplay in MGS2 imo (you actually start as Snake as well), and the same core gameplay from MGS1 made a return, you were just sneaking around as another character :?. Raiden wasn't "girly" at all... what made him "girly"? I thought he was a somewhat more dynamic character than Snake and that it was interesting to learn about his past. Snake's character in MGS1 was pretty static, just a badass on a mission, start to finish. Raiden changes quite a bit from start to finish and you learn a lot more about his character than you learn about Snake's in MGS1. MGS2 is my favorite game in the series partially because Raiden's character was more layered and, consequently, more intriguing. That and because the gameplay and combatwere refined and improved upon, and because the story was more interesting imo.

As far as the collection goes, not many would pay $120 for four games... sorry, but it's not likely. That's a good price for what'd consumers would be getting, but it's far too high. $120 is double the price of a standard retail game, and people could get 10+ used games with that much money. The current collection is a good enough value imo. I would have rather it have been MGS2, MGS3, and MGS4, but you need to keep in mind that Sony gains a massive selling point for their system in having MGS4 as an exclusive. If Kojima were to pull that from them, Sony wouldn't be too happy. That's a relationship I'm guessing Kojima values. I can see MGS4 being released for the next gen Xbox, because Sony will have a new console out then as well. Or maybe right before the new Sony/MS consoles come out. Wouldn't make sense for Sony to be happy about that game being pulled from the PS3 exclusives list when the system is going to be their current gen machine for at least a couple more years.

What makes Raiden girly looking is his long white hair and ninja-knight costume.

Hideo should've expanded Snake's story.

Yes, gamers could purchase many used titles for $120, but point being it's a great deal for the complete collection and easily allows fans to get up to speed on a single console - with HD visuals.

Sony's MGS 4 exclusivity is weakening with time. I believe GotP will be released for the Xbox 360 within a couple years.

Well actually this gen is practically over by next year or the year after. I think MGS4 port would be a waste at this point

Well I'm a PS3 guy and a huge MGS fan (just look at my name lol) but I feel I can chime in hear...

The problem you seem to be getting at is that you arn't getting the "full" MGS experience becaue Guns of the Patriots is missing, unfortunately for you that game is not possible on 360 considering it would take like 7 or 8 discs. So if you REALLY want Guns of the Patriots you will have to buy a PS3, just like if someone REALLY wanted Halo they would have to buy a 360, or Uncharted PS3 etc..

I still recommend buying the HD 360 collection as your getting 3 awesome games even though Sons of Liberty had a BS sissy charecter you played as half way through. There still fun games.

And I would like it if Guns of the Patriots was on 360 as more people could enjoy it, but being as it's impossible, it's not gonna happen. If you want the full MGS experience you should get a PS3, sorry.

And I'm NOT being a fanboy or anything that's just the truth.

Well, if MGS4 (which wasn't that great to begin with) did get ported to 360 it would probably be a special edition of the game a la Substence and Subsistance. But I doubt Kojima is even going to do a special edition of the game with MGS Rising coming out, so MGS4 on 360 is pretty much never gonna happen. Then again, you're not missing much. Also, unless were getting the Sustance and Subsistance ports in the HD collection, it's still not complete, as we don't have MG1 and MG2. Not to mention no MG1 (NES version) and Snakes Revenge (not a canonical game). Not to mention Ac!d 1 and 2, and portable ops and portable op +. Also there was a non canonical game on GBC (can't remember what it was called). And no MGS1 or Twin Snakes, so not complete collection no matter how you look at it.

Actually, the seventh console generation won't be ending for Microsoft until 2015 or later. I don't follow Sony, so I can't say.

It'd require a disc or two. Add a ton of bonus content to make it worth the wait, and I'm buying.

I know there's many more MGS games than four; I was trying to sound realistic. ;)

Okay, I just read the GameSpot and IGN review for MGS 4, and I squeezed out a tear and got the chills after I read this at the end of the IGN review, and I never get choked up:

Is it possible to give a game an 11? If so, this would be the game that would merit that score. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a title that exceeds all of the hype that was attached to the title. Regardless of whether you've seen every trailer and screenshot, read every preview and heard every interview, you won't get a full sense of how phenomenal this title is unless you sit down and experience it for yourself. Legends die hard and deserve a heroic story that lives on when they are gone. Metal Gear Solid 4 is such an ending for the legendary warrior Solid Snake. Not only does it sum up the full franchise of Metal Gear, its depth and its complexity, coupled with its technical prowess, make it one of the best games of the year and, indeed, one of the best games ever made. Get some well earned rest, Snake. You've earned it. We salute you. *tear runs down cheek*

This is the greatest videogame, no gamie (game-movie), ever made on every level, and it just has to make it to the Xbox 360. In short, Solid Snake suffers from cellular regeneration and accelerated aging. This is Snake's final mission and the game ties up all the loose ends of the ENTIRE franchise. For that reason alone, this game must be included in the HD collection.

You see, after MGS 4 Old Snake has an estimated year at best to live due to the FOXDIE virus inside him. However, his incredible will gives him the strength to live the rest of his days in peace and see the world he helped create. I've been crying all morning after I heard the news. Hideo added this so he could pull the plug on Snake at any time. He wants to work on other projects nowand doesn't want anybody else telling Snake's story. That's why even though Snake is only 42 and should fight into his early 50s, he was injected with the FOXDIE virus: so Hideo could trigger it any time and kill Snake. I've lost all respect for Hideo. Metal Gear Solid was one of few game franchises I enjoyed, and now Hideo is cheating all of his fans and cutting Snake short just so he can go work on side projects and leave his life behind. The controls have been put in a man's hands named Shigenobu Matsuyama and MGS's new main character is Raiden and it'll be nothing more than a Ninja Gaiden wanna-be.

MGS is unofficially dead. The girly ninja man Raiden and upcoming hack-and-slash style will never be able to replace or surpass Snake. Konami, do the right thing and discontinue this legendary franchise. It's all downhill from here.
