Aahh lets not act like we didn't see this coming, M. Pachter was predicting a price raise a long time ago, he even mentioned Platinum Subscription being around $100-120 if introduced in the future, if MS does that, let us be prepared. If you compare Xbox live now to the Xbox Live service from the original xbox, the value has increased a lot, its not even comparable, but yet we were paying the same. It will never be free, I hope people will see that this will not change for the "better".
Once you graduate get (better) job or a raise at work, affording this won't be a problem.

Everyone talks about everything we are getting for our money on Live, and I am still trying to figure out what that is. Netflix, Facebook, and Last FM are nothing more than Apps, just like you get on a smartphone. We already pay netflix a monthly fee, and that can be streamed to your T.V. for free via blueray and DVD players, PS3, and even the Wii. Facebook is free on the other consoles, why would we pay for it. The games we play are not on dedicated servers that MS is running, they are peer to peer. ESPN 3? A good chunk of your cable bill is going toards ESPN, which don't forget is also owned by disney, which also owns ABC, so what am I getting there that I don't already have?
The best part of it is that we don't even have an internet browser on 360. HMMMMMMMMM, I wonder, if they gave us an internet browser, then we wouldn't need all of their apps, which seems to be why we are paying a fee to them for Xbox live.
Awesome, so all someone needs is a smartphone, BluRay, DVD, another console, and a cable box or they can pay Microsoft 40-80 cents a month
Oh yeah, there's no holes whatsoever in your argument
Your getting the point now Jayson, most people already have at least one of the things mentioned, and that allows access to them for free. Theres a little hole in your arguement also. Did you take your math class at the same school you learned about economics? 40-80 cents a month? Show me where I can get live for $4.80 per year.
