Microsoft dropping 360's price tomorrow

"Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter stated in a note to investors today that Microsoft will announce an Xbox 360 price cut tomorrow at the start of the revamped E3 Media & Business Summit, which takes place all week.

He said that the price cut will affect all three Xbox 360 models. The $299 Core pack will drop to $249; the $399 Premium pack will drop to $349; and the recently released $479 Elite model will drop to $399.

Such a price cut would be a likely move for Microsoft following the PS3 pricing announcement today. Sony dropped the price of the 60GB PS3 from $599 to $499 and announced an 80GB PS3 with MotorStorm bundled for $599. The price drop appears to be in response to lower-than-expected sales of the console".

Well, the 360 will be 2 years old in November. We usually see price drops around that time in a console's life. I wouldn't be surprised if they did drop the prices.

I doubt it. I think They will wait for MGS 4 or holiday season......not JULY. If you really think about it sony is still in the same position. They have a $500 and $600 console just like before.

$250 for the core would be great if you ask me.

Damn, that's good news for me because it seems my launch 360 finally died on me. I hope this is true because I'll defintiley get an Elite for that price!1_Hit_Killer

It wouldn't be a surprise if they did drop the price at all.

You have to know they were prepared for this strategy by Sony (significant price cut before the first year is done! Ouch. Outsold 2:1 by the console released a year earlier double ouch!). MS will respond appropriately and it will most likely be a combination of price cut and console bundles.

It may not drop right now but it will certianly drop by the holiday season. I honestly think a price cut announcement for the 360 stalls any momentum Sony may get with their price cut so it may happen immediately.

If you bought a 360 recently and if you have a 30 day return policy, maybe you could return it or they could play the difference? This real price drop is really good for people that don't have a 360 yet, congrats.

If you bought your console in the last 30 days most retail stores such as Circuit City and Best Buy have price guarantees where you can get refunded the difference in price. So no worries.jacksheets

If they DO have a price cut I think its wrong to say it was because of Sony's price drop. The 360 premium is still $100 cheaper than the SMALLER PS3 model. But I'm happy PS3 cut the price, makes me think about getting one.

If you bought it at Future Shop, 30 days after purchase, any price drops they will give you as long as you have the receipt!

you all say "oh i jus bought my 360 2 weeks ago i wish id waited!!!" but atleast your playin your 360 otherwise you would have had to wait for 2 weeks or however long youve had it.... missing out on amazing 360-ness!!!! i aint bothered if the 360 comes down to £200 (pro(i would go out and buy it so i can have 1 at me dads aswel as me mums:D) because atleast ive been playin it since christmas and i wish i got it at launch tbh.

A lousy $50 price drop? Almost 2 years now and $50 is all they are willing to drop it?

I think if this is true then it's just for a short time. Till the new "falcon" design is in production. Then we may see a $100 - $150 drop. Bringing the core to $199, prem $299 and the elite to $399 (or lower).

lol i feel bad for the people like you, but it is also quite funny to watch all the people who get gutted after just recently buying there xbox.
