At the time MS still has ownership of said DLC so they reserve the right to who gets a hold of their property.

So what, does that make it right? No. This is absolutely infuriating, I now have to purchase a new account just to download content for games that I already own, which I'm not going to do. MS has hit a new low. I'm 17 for christ sakes I can buy whateevr games i want, and now I'm being punished because I didn't have my own credit card to register with

Yeah I know how you feel man, but we Americans have passed laws to restrict underage youths to access of mature material. Parents are the ones who pushed for this, remember?

Yeah I understand but I'm not underaged, I'm 17, but I had to register under my mother's credit card because I don't have my own. It doesn't make sense to me, if I already own and bought the game myself, or anyone for that matter, what good does it do to restrict content that you need the actual game to run anyways. The whole sysetm is absurd and contradictary, now I have to sepnd another 50$ on a new account just to access features I'm already paying for, and in the process lose all the dlc and achievements i've gotten on my current account.......It's absolutely ridiculous

However you got the game, MS has no control over, only the retailer does but with XBL, MS has complete control.

I got the game because I'm allowed to buy it, have you failed to read that the first few times. if this policy does not change soon I may bid my farewell with xbox altogether. Too much bs with everything, I'm already on my 4th system because these things are so cheap and fragile

You might want to call 18004MYXBOX before you start a new account. I had no problems whatsoever to straighten out my locked account and it took less than 10 mins. Have one of your parents nearby when you call to verify your age.

.....they said anybody with a 'child' account is restricted and it's irreversible, meaning I have to buy a new account.

That wasn't the point of this post. The point was to alert everybody else who has a "child" account, as a lot of ppl do, of the new and absurd content restrictions. I don't want to get a PS3, I'm only saying atleast I'd have better customer service if I did.

On the account management page, at the top. But I believe it only appears when you have reached your 18th Birthday.

By the way, I'm 17 and I havent been wingeing and moaning about all of this. At the end of the day it's there to enforce the law to prevent underage users gaining access to mature content.

Wait until you are 18 and grow up like the rest of us.. You're meant to be 17 for crying out loud!

Why don't you stop threatening and rantingMS about you getting a PS3 just because you do not like user restrictions. If you don't like the servicethere should be a cancel account linksomewhereon Xbox live. Go head make our day. I'm happy you don't have access to theDLC, that one lessimmature boy I don't have to hear.

no offense dude. but according to US law you are still underage. your 18th birthday will change that. M$ is doing this to keep themselves out of trouble. retailers have control of the games, great if your parents buy a game for you if you are not old enough for it, but M$ doesn't want to be in trouble to releasing more content to you without the parent having control of it. and it is hard for M$ to keep track of parental acceptance on material so they just stop it for all until you turn 18. sorry for the inconvenience, but that is the way the world is turning these days. cheer up your 18th B-Day is coming, then rejoice and download away.

He's underage if he wants to buy beer and cigarettes, but according to the ESRB, he should be allowed to purchase M-rated video games. Plus, we're talking about Halo 3 here, not exactly deserving of an M-rating to begin with.

Hello, I'm a Microsoft Agent sent to help you! What's your quarry? Oh? You can't download M-Rated Content to your Xbox 360? Did you check to make sure your account is working? That's not it? Did you accidentally register under the age of 18 and the system had processing it because we have to process 2 million complaints everyday, including over 50% of the interenet community periodically? That's not it either? Huh..... Well sir to help you, we will eliminate all our rights, reboot the system, inconviencing everyone, take a long time to tear down the parent protection plan we prepared to prevent numerous parent complaints, and will make sure you can get that one map pack sir. How does that sound? Good? Good okay let's get started.....

Complain to your congressman, not Microsoft. With all the noise politicians are making with minors and video game content, companies like MS are trying to self regulate so they aren't government regulated. If Sony isn't doing it on the PS3 now, they will be soon.

It makes absolutely no sense that you have to be 18 to purchase content for a game that's rated for a 17 year old. I don't see why microsoft had to make the age cutoff at 18. Why not 17!? wouldn't that make much more sense? maybe someone should tell microsoft to recheck their arithemetic.

well you could, but the problem is the people who set up their accounts as a child account(i.e. under 18) and are now 17 can't download the content thats rated for them

well apparently i'm old enougfh to buy the game itself so i guess having maps for game is a lot worse than having the actual game according to MS. If the content is 18+ then the games should be 18+. I'm very upset with MS right now. Can't even get a working system and now this.

[QUOTE="g5velocity"]Yeah I know how you feel man, but we Americans have passed laws to restrict underage youths to access of mature material. Parents are the ones who pushed for this, remember?basskill2000

Yeah I understand but I'm not underaged, I'm 17, but I had to register under my mother's credit card because I don't have my own. It doesn't make sense to me, if I already own and bought the game myself, or anyone for that matter, what good does it do to restrict content that you need the actual game to run anyways. The whole sysetm is absurd and contradictary, now I have to sepnd another 50$ on a new account just to access features I'm already paying for, and in the process lose all the dlc and achievements i've gotten on my current account.......It's absolutely ridiculous

no offense dude. but according to US law you are still underage. your 18th birthday will change that. M$ is doing this to keep themselves out of trouble. retailers have control of the games, great if your parents buy a game for you if you are not old enough for it, but M$ doesn't want to be in trouble to releasing more content to you without the parent having control of it. and it is hard for M$ to keep track of parental acceptance on material so they just stop it for all until you turn 18. sorry for the inconvenience, but that is the way the world is turning these days. cheer up your 18th B-Day is coming, then rejoice and download away.

but what your missing here basskill, is that the video games and moves rated M, mean that you have to be 17 or older to view them, and the problem is that people(like me) who are 17 can't download the content which is rated for a 17 year old. to put it into perspectiveThat'd be like walking to a movie theatre and being denied into an R movie because your 17 and not 18

Complain to your congressman, not Microsoft. With all the noise politicians are making with minors and video game content, companies like MS are trying to self regulate so they aren't government regulated. If Sony isn't doing it on the PS3 now, they will be soon.

the problem is not our congressmen, it's about microsoft being douches

Just deal with it man, your a minor, and you don't get access to all the fun things in the world. Everyone else deals with it, why should you be treated any different then the rest of us.dlindenb2000

were not minors in the eyes of the ESRB rating system, along with the movie rating system, which says that you have to be 17 to play Mrated video games, and watch R movies.

R movies are 18+ Man, not 17.

I feel for you man, I truly do. I was in this situation not long ago, and being 18, I thought it was complete garbage that I couldn't download an M-Rated demo. I gave in though, and used my Mom's credit card to promote my account. I didn't have much of a choice (doesn't seem MS will do anything about this for the next little while...).

I hope they do fix the problem - there are tons more people having troubles.

that doesn't explain how I get in with my drivers license that says I'm 17 years of age, and also the last rating is NC-17

what rating system are you even referring to, wtf is 14A and 18A. All right well wherever you see your movies i guess it's 18 but where I live the rating system is 17+
