I bought Rock Band today, and when I put it in my 360, it got a disc read error. I checked the disc, and it had a huge scratch going around the rim. So i returned it, and i got a perfectly clean disc. I try it again, and it gets another error. I look at the disc and it has the same rim scar.

So it was my 360 that was screwing up my rock band. I called microsoft, and they told me my warranty ran out in april, and i have to pay 100 bux to have my 360 repaired so it wont eat my discs. wtf, hell no. so im like, "yea right, im not paying that, its not my fault! and wat about my rock band, its screwed up now." and he goes, call the makers of...rock...band(as if he doesnt know wat rock band is, even tho its one of the most popular games on 360)." i asked if microsoft could gimme a refund or a free game or something, and he said no.

so i was pretty pissed, and i knew EA wasnt gonna replace my disc, cuz it wasnt defective. my 360 messed it up, and not even microsoft took responsibility for wat their product did. well, i called EA, and i told the guy wat happened with my 360 eating my disc. and hes like, "wats ur name and address." and i tell him, and then he tells me that there should be a disc on the way to my house as soon as they print more rock bands in 1-2 weeks. thats it, he didnt even ask me for a serial number and crap like MS did. I thought EA was the greediest company around, but it turns out MS is. does this happen a lot to 360 owners?

That sucks. I had to send mine back to Microsoft for that same reason but luckily for me my warranty was still up.

If M$ did give everyone refunds than think about how much money they would lose. And people of course will always say it wasn't their fault but for all M$ knows it was.

Anyways it's tough luck i had to pay for a repair too and it sucked but M$ is a business

I wouldn't be praising EA until that game is in your hands. They did send me a new guitar for Rockband within 3 days though, free of charge.

if you know anyone that works in a retail store that supplies Xbox 360's see if they can swap one out for you. That's what I did.

that is terrible, for the 360 to do that.

kind of off topic but i had to pay $20 for a new call of duty 4 because my 360 got moved when it was spinning. i waited about 3 weeks, they did give me game of the year edition so that was kind of nice but i bought the maps already.

Honestly all disc systems have a chance of doing this. Doesn't anyone remember the HUGE amount of PS2 games ruined for the same reason? My PS3 did it once, Dreamcast, PS1 et al The only disc based systems I've owned that haven't done it is my WII and the Sega CD.

The propensity of the 360 doing it over the PS2 is comparing a flea bite to a snake bite. It happens but no where near as often.

I would have to agree with you. I love my Xbox, but Microsoft is a bunch of theives. I say that and I even have a sister in law that works there and she thinks the same thing. The company charges you out the butt for accesories just because they have the Microsoft logo on them. Then they do stuff like this to their consumers. I've had to send my Xbox in 5 times. I have done nothing wrong to my console. I keep it dusted and gave it room to breath by keeping it away from heat. Thank God I extended my warrenty. However, that still doesn't negate the fact that the darn thing fried on me 4 times and wouldn't read disks once. I mean we are paying this company 400 plus dollars for a console. Not to mention what we pay for games, accessories, and downloadable content. Come on Microsoft, have you ever heard of a little customer service? How about actualy getting us someone on the other end of the line that we can understand once in a while. Don't get me wrong, I am far from racist, but if your major market is in an primaraly English speaking country, wouldn't you want to have your technitions be able to speak the same language? Who at Microsoft came up with the idea, "Hey, lets analy rape our customers!"?

To the TC...Dude, its called life...It sucks, but ALMOST EVERYTHING has a limited warranty.

Cars, ELECTRONICS, software, phones, home appliances, etc.

It sucks, yeah, but it is what it is...

yea somthing wierd happend to my living room 360 . it opens 2 times with he disc spinning , but it hasnt done it since then put my saints row disc i get to play this game put it in a 360 very occasionally, is geting annoying and its the newer model lol , all this stuff about 360s getting better in worksmanship is a lie , just to get some of the ones who stopped supporting microsoft back again , ,

thats there ploy , nothing has changed other hen the fact the arcade has a hdmi slot like the prem and elite lol

Yea its a bummer and unfair but like someone stated above me...its life, there a company of course they want to make money and they will rip you off if they feel the need but cmon man why do you feel like you need to come on the forums and tell complete strangers? We all know Microsoft has issues but what company doesnt? Simple either live with it or quit it....:?.

When I said quit it I meant gaming......for those who didnt know what I meant :D.

are you aware they actually extended everyone's warranty to 3 years free of charge just because of the rrod? and that cost them billions? and just because you were unlucky enough to have this happen months after your warranty expired and they wont fix it for free isnt their fault. if your car warranty expires and something goes wrong what happens? you pay for it! deal with it this is the real world kid money drives the world (you could buy a new one for $200 tho)

yeah it did that to my Kameo disk, but it plays smooth, with the odd hicup. My friends DVDs and a couple games it happened too, but mainly his DVDs for some reason. Now if they used Blu-Ray, would they scratch as deep or at all? Hopefully we will find out with M$ making a Blu-Ray add on :D

Microsoft didn't get to the top for being a bunch of saints...but I do feel your pain. If it weren't for the awesome first party games, I probably wouldn't have kept my 360.

Exactly. You can say all you want that it's their fault but you probably did something which caused the Xbox to scratch your disk. I mean, it's not like it has been happening since day 1 of getting your Xbox.

my cousin was pissed off with his. He completely froze it with a bunch of upside down compressed air cans. I do the same thing to older graphics cards just for fun. They are a giant frozen brick :lol:
