I own a ps3 as I'm thinking of selling it and getting an Xbox 360. Never owned one before, and thought a change would be good. Do you think it's too late to get one and wait out for news on the new Xbox? Also, how does online play work? With PSN it's free, but I've read on the new Xbox, there's wifi built in. Do you still need to have a monthly plan or has it changed? Cheers

the new xbox's have wifi built in yes... you also still need to pay for xbox live to play online... and its never too late with the massive library of games the 360 has.

Id say just wait as most likely the price will drop pretty good in coming months and you can save your money for it, so then you dont have to trade in your PS3, its nice to have both, as they have their own perks.

Party Chat is nice, but the controller is really just preference or what ever one you play with more often, I used to think to the 360 controller was the best, but when I got my PS3 and started playing that as well, Ive grown more accustom to it than the 360 controller, now it dosent really feel right when I play it.

I fully agree with this. At this point you can pretty much play all games on both consoles, but there are still some great 360 titles that you can get for cheap now and a lot of PS3 titles coming out later this year (even one today lol). Keep looking for deals as there are some good bundles that come around every now and then. You won't get your money's worth for selling your PS3 to be honest, but games I recommend if you do grab a 360 are: Alan Wake Halo 3, Reach, 4 Gears 1-3 Mass Effect Trilogy (but you can get this on PS3 already on fewer discs which is a little more convenient) Fable games (never played them personally, but I heard they are fun)

Alake wake is probably one of the most underrated games this-gen....TC that should be the first tittle you buy when you get your 360!! In fact...I INSIST:evil:

Agreed as I have both a PS3 and a xbox 360 with the wi-fi. Its nice to be able to have the two so you can always switch back and forth with each console. I love Halo as well so its nice to keep that 360 around even though my PS3 gets much more use now.

Agreed. Even though I failed to play through most of it as I also got Just Cause 2 at the time. Alan wake was a great purchase and I'm considering picking it up possibly and giving it another shot at a full playthrough.

I still have yet to play this game. I suppose the main reason is one of my friends absolutely hates the game, going so far as to make his aliases on gaming websites "alanwakesucks", so I haven't necessarily felt like getting it. It's got to be cheap by now, should probably give it a go.

If you want to play online, you HAVE to pay for gold. It sucks because there are so many features it comes with, that I dont even use. I wish it could be cheaper for those that dont want the extra features like netflix, hulu, bing, and music stuff. If you are more into single player games, I wouldnt buy live.

As far as next generation, I wouldnt worry about it. The launch games may not be that good, and the console will probably be too expensive. There are still plenty of current gen games to play.

Stick with your PS3. Don't waste money on a 360 that is nearly 50% guaranteed to die on you. I sold my PS3 and made the 360 jump because I was a fan of the original Xbox and Halo, and I regret it now. I thought about trying again after having my recent 360 die and I've come to my senses. Ask any Best Buy or GameStop employee. Trust me, better off with what you have and putting that $300 towards a PS4 at years end or sometime next year. Enjoy your PS3.

Yea that dosent happen anymore, especaily with the newer slim models. I'm pretty sure they fixed those problems with the elite models, I got my black Elte back in '10 and it runs perfectly fine still.

Thanks for all the responses guys, much appreciated. Given some more thought on it, and the advice here... I'll probably stick with my ps3. Don't really play online games much but just curious how it works. Depending on the new Xbox, might be best to wait till then and then decide if I still want to change systems.

I'm just being completely honest. I'm not some anti-Microsoft guy. I'd say 75% of the original models are dead by now, and the new Slim model have a much (non pun intended) slimmer rate of failure, but they do still fail quite a bit. Ask around to several retailers if you don't believe me or get on actual Microsoft boards. The board and clamps almost are assured to overheat and melt. It's a shame that the original Xbox was built like a tank, and the 360's are not. It's the honest truth. If someone has had to buy two and three 360's, then something is wrong with the product. I assure you it won't outlast a PS3. If I were you I would keep the PS3 and then wait and see how the new PS or Xbox next gen models pan out; then decide which is best at that time.
