Mirrors Edge...Maybe its just me!!!

For seeing other posts and people taking about the demo, i know that i am in the minority about this game but its looks pretty corny to me. its a different game for once and a new idea ill give it that but its looks pretty stupid. basically its running and jumping and seeing how fast u can get to the end. it doesnt look like there is much depth in the game or much to do since u have to run through the game.

its a new concept but doesnt seem like anything special, but thats me. does anyone agree with me about this game?

i see your point but if running and jumping isnt fun then why does mario sell so much?

Well I applaud the effort to create something new and if it doesn't pan out, then oh well, a lesson learned. I personally liked it a lot (the demo) and I eagerly await to play the full version to see if in fact it does get boring.

It certainly doesn't look stupid......it's no wierder in concept than most games.

I agree, IMO it looks stupid, once you get past the novilty of the point of view it doesn't seem that deep, sure its more of a platformer but the levels look repetitive and boring.

Doesn't take much thought to run towards a red Icon and do what it says. Yes I played the demo and was I also agree it's boring but the designers did an amazing job as far as the first person view. A big problem with the game is that you only have the choice of playing a female. I'll pass on this game but once again Kudos to them for doing a great job on the first person view. _Kikode_

im a guy and i think alot of girls would find what you just said sexist there are plenty of games that only let you play males alot more than girls. Also how can a game even hope to have an engaging story when the main person can be a variety of different people. Even if the take the mass effect route its a huge disconnect and your custom made character is never as good as one that the devs could make.

i agree its unique concept i dont disagree with that, just that running and jumping can only be fun for so long. its new idea but just seems like it will get real boring real fast

That's because you're thinking way too linear. You're thinking of taking the easiest, most obvious route, rather than the fastest, most efficient and stylish routes. Watch some youtube vids of people doing the time trial runs on the demo, you'll see that theres a lot more to the game than just running up stairs and jumping over railings.

well ill admit it could get repetitive but it could also find ways to keep things diverse ME reminds me so much of portal i just hope it isnt that short.

I really liked the demo a lot... this is one of those rare games that developers go beyond the basic thinking of creating. They added "art" to the game and I really enjoy it. a55a55inx

I couldn't agree more. I don't think I could ever get bored of jumping off a 300ft building, grabbing on a red pipe, and live to tell about it. Innovative? Yes. Unique? Very. Awesome? Hell yeah. I went from a hype scale of 5/10 to 10/10 after the demo. I'm really looking forward to it.

Its games like these that take me back to the SNES days. Just pure FUN. Yeah if you look at it like "oh you just run around and jump" then your missing the whole point. It's different from most "now-a-day" games which I like. It's just pure action. It makes you think on the run (pun intended) and you can do it over but in a much different way. It's kind of like Left4dead. At its core its just a bunch of zombies running at you. However they make it FUN. It's one of those games that don't need a hardcore story because the fun factor just outweighs it. It's like CSS too. At its core its just buy a weapon and go kill people. Some say its the same thing every round however theres more to it than that. Its because its really FUN. I'm glad devs are still making games like these. Its what makes gaming so much more enjoyable. I'm in love with the demo. I have probably played through it 10+ times just tweaking the route I ran.

I've found towards the end, where you have the two cops you have to beat up, there's a route that takes you around them, avoiding them almost completely.

The theme song and atmosphere go together so well. It's just a surreal experience to me.

excatly thats one of the points i was trying to make, theres no way id spend 60 bucks on this game i think it will get boring fast especially from looking at all the gameplay videos. u can only run and jump so much. and the gameplay looks alittle sloppy in the videos. it may be better in the demo but i can only judge what i see. its an orininal idea just doesnt seem like it will have any lasting appeal

im not trying to trash the game, i just dont see how a whole game could be running and jumping. The game looks like that movie Run Lolia Run, actually its exactly like that. its a gilr running and jumping to get to places. Its a new novality idea which i think will wear off rather quickly. i cant see a whole game being just running and it cant be really long sicne the idea is to get where u r going as fast as u can. for the most part u just have to find a red think and jump to it or run on it. personally i dont think it will be worth $60. yeah there is also some fighting and gun play but it looks really sloppy in all the videos.

From what you've been saying, it seems your opinion of the game is based solely on seeing other people play it. I think Mirror's Edge is a game that has to be experienced first-hand. To be honest, I wasn't that hot for this game until I put my hands on it.

Try the demo.

I remember the snes days too, i still have mine and play it, but this has nothing to do with that. this is a game one a next gen console and its running and jumping its a new idea yes but just doesnt seem to much next gen to me. just doesnt seem like theres to much depth with running and jumping to places just think it will get real old real fast.
