Ok so, I think its safe to say at this point that a gamer who isn't a huge fan of baseball, but may just enjoy playing the videogame, will absolutely hate MLB 2K9. I was hoping that 2k9 isn't AS BAD as they're saying and that maybe a huge fan of baseball would appreciate it a little more. So my question is, are their any hardcore baseball fans out there that would go with this game? Or is it literally that bad that I shouldn't even waste my time with it? Thanks for the answers!

If you like baseball and are an open minded person that can adapt your way of thinking then you will like this game. It needs a lot of tweaking (sliders) to bring it up, or down to your level of play but once you get there and as long as you keep in mind it is a GAME you will love it. It captures the essence of the game without going too crazy. You hit, you field, you pitch, you win some, you loose some, you make some amazing plays , you make some dumb errors (sound like a mlb season ?)

It IS a fun game if you allow it to be. Get it m8.

Peace out

For realism and challenge , the show is the only way to go . 2K9 has been crap with bugs the last two years and the ability to slug 120 homers in a season.

Just telling it like it is

how much longer does 2k9 hold the mlb license on xbox 360? i am extremely into baseball and anything less then a great realistic game will undoubtedly not satisfy me. i just want MLB the show to come to the 360... or maybe a return of EA MVP baseball =]

The opening day download (this is the second) tweaks alot of the games problems. For starters, they automatically adjusted the default difficulty to make it harder to hit homeruns. I also think they did something to the AI code behind the scenes with this too. Pitching is a more difficult now. CPU batters will now take balls, instead of swinging at everything (almost to much now) The 1st baseman glitch is fixed. Fielding with your outfielders feels a better now, nomore accidental drops. Basically, 2K fixed some glitches and polished the game thru sliders. I wouldn't mind seeing a couple more downloads that radically overhaul the fielder transitions and stuff. I don't know if it is possible to alter the game code that much behind the scenes, but it would be nice. The only thing keeping this game from the ranks of MLB: The Show, is polish, polish, polish. 2K should have left 2K7 alone and just worked from there, instead they have torn up their baseball concept every year and release a brand new prototype. 2K6, 2K7,2K8 AND 2K9 are all way to different from one another. My point is, SONY's MLB: The Show has taken many years (almost 10) to be perfected. Let's not forget, "The Show" wasn't very good until last year. I always liked MVP baseball and 2K baseball better than Sony's baseball. Now, the tide has turned. All SONY did was take their existing model and just kept tweaking until they got it right. Imagine how bad the game would be if SONY scrapped it and rebuilt it every year.

I'm a hardcore baseball fan but I always see things from both sides of the fence. This game is absolutely terrible and you shouldn't waste your time. I love baseball and baseball games, last years was OK. This one is just terrible though, everything is a homerun it is so ridiculous. No realism at all, just about everything is a homerun unless you aim the stick down to intentionally try to hit grounders. I already sold the game back and it is honestly close to the worst game I've bought and I buy a lot. This one next to TNA Impact! was the absolute worst video game purchase I ever made. I watch every one of the Yankees games, every one. It's too bad that the 360 can't have a good baseball game. Don't waste your money or time, it's terrible.
