well...im sold:D

The practice of making extravagant "Collector's Editions" of video games is as old as gaming itself, but it looks like Activision is about to kick it up a notch.

Night Vision Goggles

When the anticipated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is released on November 10, its $150 Prestige Edition will include what's surely the most extravagant bundled bonus ever -- a fully-functioning pair of night-vision goggles.

An Activision community manager made the announcement in a Youtube video, where he unboxes and shows off the goggles, which carry the game's branding. The Prestige Edition also includes a head-shaped display stand for the goggles, an art book, and fancy limited-edition packaging.

Modern Warfare 2's night-vision specs will join a proud tradition of crazy video game pack-ins, including Halo 3's infamous cat helmet, The Sims 3's plumbob-shaped USB drive, and Fallout 3's oversized watch and bobble-head doll, which was featured in the game, too.

It'll retail at $150, and considering that even basic night vision goggles easily run over $100 on their own, it actually sounds like a pretty good deal. All the same, as far as we can determine, it's the most expensive retail video game bundle in history, discounting games that came with their own custom controllers.

So if you're keen to play Modern Warfare 2 (as the follow-up to easily the best game of '07, you should be) and you're keen to spy on your neighbors, you'd better get saving.

That is definitely the coolest pack-in extra ever included with a game. And unlike the PIP boy for fallout 3, this actually does what you expect it to do.

That is one of the coolest collector edition game packs I have ever seen! Actually probally worth the money seems how night vision goggles cost around like $80 or something. So you'd really only be spending $10 more if you bought the game pack with the Call of Duty branded goggles. Now I dont know how good the quality is on these things are though. But if the quality is good then this is one hell of a deal.

This is really old. Pretty much all of us here know what kind of cheap edition this is going to be....Real NVG? Give me a break. I will be happy with the regular edition of the game.

Of course they are not gonna be no high tech military issued type of night vision goggles. They should be and I dont know if they are decent quality and functional which you can find night vision goggles that meet this criteria for $80!

Yeah, a code for getting CoD1 for free, i'd rather pay 50$ for the game then buying Microsoft point to afford CoD1.

Why would I want to pay anything extra for night vision goggles? I wouldn't and I don't care how good they are, when are you going to use them?? I was hoping it came with a gun and then I'd get it.

Hmm... a replica gun would be pretty cool and at least that wouldn't run up $80. lol.

Unless the goggles actually have something to do with the game, there's no reason for them to be packaged with it. They benefit the player's experience in no way shape or form. In fact, I'm pretty sure wearing the goggles while playing MW2 will actually worsen the experience. If I want night vision goggles, I'll buy night vision goggle.

so....I can wear a dorky pair of goggles on my head at 2 in the morning and have cops come up and ask me if I'm drunk? Yea, that sounds great. I'd rather get the regular version, save 70 bucks, and have fun.

I'm probably not even going to rush out to get MW2 as there are a number of games that I want more than it but I certainly wont be paying 80 bucks for some cheap binoculars with a green film over the lense.

Actually they slapped the COD back on the game after some company or something did a survey & noticed a dramatic decrease in the game's awareness without COD in the title.

I don't get why they wanted to include NVG. I guess they just want people to pay $150 for their game.
