Modern Warfare 2 released????

I just heard from my friend that Modern Warfare 2 is selling in Gamestop stores (I live in NYC). Apparently Gamestop got fed up with all the small companies selling it before the release date and complained to Activision. I heard from the same friend it is only happening in NY. Can anyone confirm this? If this is true that means I can't preorder it tomorrow and I'm going to have to wait until the next shipment.

I don't know, I went to Gamestop today and they say Come back Tuesday! By the way I live in New York. I pre-ordered to.

So far I spotted someone playing it on my other systems network, I didn't get a chance to ask them where they got it from

I've heard of isolated cases, but nothing on a wide scale.

this story was actually confirmed, activision gave some gamestops permission to sell the game to try and curve the losses from all of the mom and pop stores selling it early, its on kotaku if your interested, its places in north eastern america i believe, which would be why new york falls in to that category

Well I do have one person on my friends list who has MW2 already and he happens to live in NY. Its a possibility.

Its all happening on the east coast due to mom and pop stores breaking street dates. Its so stores like Gamestop don't lose out on money because some of there customers could buy it elsewhere already...

Sucks that a lot of us get shafted... but its only a couple days away.

If you live in Los Angeles, they're selling it at the GameStop in Culver City (corner of Washington and Venice). They're very open about it to, no discretion. They even called me in advance. The line was out the door and I waited 45 minutes.

Place called C&C Games in Bowling Green, Ohio has been selling them for like 4 days lol... Just depends on the store...

Yeah, my friend just picked up his version in Bowling Green, OH. I live in a suburb of Columbus, called mine and they said no other than a midnight launch.
