I still feel that single player is more important. Years from now I'll want to come back to games like Oblivion, like I go back to LoZ: OoT now and play them again. Games like Shadowrun won't allow me to do this because no one will be playing it.

Single Player > Multiplayer
JMO... But the storyline needs to be played out in order for me to fall in love with a game. The best example on the x360 is Bioshock. The storyline made the game amazing. And that is one of the many reasons - although the primary reason for me why I enjoyed the game so much. But with that said, a game like Diablo 2, is a fabulous multi-player title created by Blizzard that made the community a wonderful way to play and kept you coming back over and over and over. The problem with the multi-player games in todays world (with online microphones) is you get these fanboys and kids who just want to be jerks and scream and whine and act like a lil b####. That honestly takes away from the game.
single player. i want to play a cool story about something, i don't want to play something that just has online killing people unless its like a mmo. but a game needs multiplayer to!
i think now a days games need single player and multiplayer. i usualy play a game then play its multiplayer.

while thats true... i would say multiplayer is more important because it adds more imediate replay value. in ten years i can go back and play gears over again...but so what? i know its nice to reisit old games, but the 100+ hours of online gameplay that ive had in gears is MUCH more important than being able to go replay biochock later
REPLAY VALUE IS THE MOST IMportant thingGizmoSimo
Eh if the one player is good enough its like watching your favorate move over and over or waiting a year and going back remembering how awsome it was. It is simple there are games made for the multi player (halo, CoD), and games made for the single player, mass effect, god of war ect,
What I fall in love with now is Co Op campane I love playing with my friends for a goal and seeing the story togeather its the best thing.
My friend and I are single player types and we have been discussing lately the explosion of multiplayer online and how we hope it doesn't ruin single player games.
Single player all the way.
When you get online you will see how much better it is imo. I know I did.Gameslayer3
For the most part, I've discovered the opposite. MP is okay in small doses, and it's a GREAT idea in theory. In practice, however, once you introduce humans, the experience is ruined. It's fun if you play with just friends, but playing with random people is not fun for me.
Single player just offers so much more for me, so that's where my vote goes.
Im not voting because both go are equally important. Eventually people get sick of the crappy online community and want to take a break and play a game by themselves. Then eventually you are going to want to play against humans instead of dimwitted AI. They both sorta compliment each other in a way.Nocturnal15
EXACTLY!
They go hand in hand like an awkward couple. They've distanced themselves from each other but are terrified of being seperate.
Rubbish analogy aside, I'd say that single player is more crucial. Multiplayer seems to have a soft spot for hooting frat boys and prepubesent meglomaniacs. Not to say they're not fun, I love CoD4 and TF2, but they have a noticable presence. Single player allows you to go at your own pace (within reason) and enjoy a story to go along with it.
