Most Over Appreciated Games?

I am aware this has been made before, just thought of making a fresh one.

There is a thread about Underrated games, so thought I should make a thread about Overrated games.

Give me your thoughts on the most overrated games.

In My opinion GTA IV is Over appreciated, fun game though.

Halo, Gears of War, Call of Duty 4, Rockband and Guitar Hero are all overrated imo.

Not a big fan of L4D. It's kind of boring after a short while.

these threads are pointless, every game will get named in this thread because alot of people like them but some people dont and those are the ones posting the games so if theres any big name games out there, it will be named

I agree with the Rockband and Guitar Hero games... but not the others... and not GTA4 as stated above... Halo 3, Gears of War, Call of Duty 4, GTA4... they are all amazing games... GTA4 might have been a little overdone with all of the 10's... but it was an amazing game none the less... and the others seem to have made a lasting impression on the gaming community seeing as how hundreds of thousands of people still log on and play them every day... 3 years later in the case of Gears, 2 years in the case of Halo 3 and Call of Duty... No game can ever be perfect, because not everyone will like everything about it... but no game is worthless because there will always be people that enjoy it... and no game is underated/overated because different people will both love it and hate it...

Rockband and Guitar Hero though... don't get me started... I wish the people who came up with the idea for those games would just go die in a hole somewhere...

I for one put my vote in for GTA4. Perfect 10? Come on. I own the game and rarely play it. I will say it IS good, it DOES do sandbox better than anyone else, but the missions are repetitive, the story gets diluted being spread across so many of em (and there's not much there to begin with). It can't appeal to everyone (women, children, Christians, ect.) being based on debauchery.

I say a solid 8.5.

Agreed. They are fun for a day, maybe a week. I own GH2, 3, WT and have played Rockband 1 and 2. Can't believe I paid $200 for WT and it just sits collecting dust.

Left 4 Dead. Fun game if you're playing with friends, but I feel as if there's something lacking. I got it for Christmas and haven't really played it that much.

I think there is a difference between being over appreciated, and just not liking a game. There are some games that people say are over apprecaited, but aren't.

My Over Rated games are.

GTA IV and Assasins Creed, with some Gears of War 2 multiplayer

Soul Calibur IV.

Left 4 Dead. Fun game if you're playing with friends, but I feel as if there's something lacking. I got it for Christmas and haven't really played it that much.

Something lacking? Yeah maybe a story, or puzzle elements or cutscenes. Lol, there is a LOT lacking. Still love the game though. It's like a porno with all the talking cut-out. Sometimes you like the cheesy dialouge and wooden sexing-up ... metaphorically speaking, of course. :D

Exactly. I can't understand why you would think RE5 is overrated, but like you yourself said, "To each his own."

Halo 3: It's definitely fun playing with friends, and the ability to play online with guests is great. But I can't believe how many people say it's the best game ever. Sometimes when waiting for match to load I look at people's games lists just out of curiosity. It's amazing how many people with a 40+ skill level have only played Halo 3. There's a lot more to the 360 than just Halo!

Outside the 360:

Shadow of the Colossus: Quite possibly the most boring game I've ever played. It was basically just rinse and repeat.

Metroid Prime: The second most boring game? I had to force myself to beat it (I hate not finishing games).

FF7: While definitely a great game, I don't think it deserves all the hype. Personally, I think it's like a lot of other things. The first one that you play is almost always your favorite. Most people played FF7 as their first FF, so they were blown away. My first was FF8, and that is by far my favorite. I prefer 8, 10, and 12 all to FF7.

Half life 2.Portal was cool and TF2 is really fun but I dont get the love for the game itself.

Are you kidding me? Out of all games you go and pick SOTC? That game isn't overrated in the slightest, honestly the game didn't get the attention it deserved from the gaming community. It's one of those treasures that got burried in the hype of all other games coming out at that time, one of the most original games out there. Boring? maybe to some kid who has ADD that has to be shooting or blowing something up ever second he's infront of the television.
