Hey guys, I'm starting a thread in which you talk about some of your favorite games that didn't sell well and may have been overlooked even by hardcore gamers like you and I. Hopefully everyone will come away wanting to check out some games they've never heard about or didn't know if they were any good.

Anyhow, one of my favorite obscure titles on the 360 is Operation Darkness. There's no other game out there that combines JRPG gameplay, real WW2 history, classic literature, and quirky anime. You play through some actual WW2 history in a sort of alternate reality where you have characters in your party like Frankenstein's monster and Jack the Ripper, and you're up against tanks and soldiers who fight side-by-side with vampires and zombies, and the game ties it all perfectly in with the actual WW2 campaign, and Adolf Hitler (along with his top officers) are some of the bosses in the game. The game is a totally off-the-wall cheese-fest and yet it all works together so well.

What are some other obscure 360 games you love?

Velvet Assassin and History Channel games (haven't played HC: Civil War Secret Missions though) would be some that come to mind.

I wouldn't say overlooked but a few decent oldies are Dead or Alive 4, Lost Odyssey (if that's your thing) and Ace Combat 6.

Lost Odyessey is pretty overlooked, everyone that has played it has really enjoyed it. I still need to clean my disc, I can't play it again til it's fixed. :(

That's a damn shame and a damn problem with multi-disk games. Im guessing you don't have the hard drive to install the game to your 360?

I would agree with this. Last Remnant is a fun game, but to this point, I've never been so frustrated with a game and I've been playing since 1987...

Although it gets a ton of hype, I'll go with Shadow Complex with only 200,000 sales. I mean this is a AAA title.

But really obscure ones?

  • 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand - Mindless, but fun game
  • Spiderman 3: Was lots of fun, Spiderman is a great character, and if you got past the graphics was a solid game
  • Heavy Weapon: A great arcade game, tons of fun, great multiplayer title
  • Small Arms: XBLA answer to Super Smash Brothers, and if you took the time to learn it, was actually pretty fun
  • Tony Hawk's Project 8 and American Wasteland: Were great, too bad Tony Hawk decided to go the way of skate, I loved how unrealistic it was, I mean it was a ton of fun.
  • Prey: Was a very solid shooter with a great story
  • Hitman: Blood Money was very fun, especially if you're into the whole espionage/assassin thing

If you look hard enough, you can find these titles for dirt cheap, and they are all worth it.

 some of the games mentioned in here are ridiculous.. they were not overlooked in the slightest.

Anyway properly overlooked games where Project Sylpheed and Frontlines: Fuels of War.

Project sylpheed was slightly put down because of its slight frame drop problems, but it was a great fun game.

Also frontlines had a good community, but the online was greatly overlooked.. it went almost unnoticed on Live.

Oh yeah I just started playing it a few days ago. Seems so-so from what I've played so far, but I'm hoping it will pick up the pace as I get further through.

I wouldn't call that an "overlooked" game; it was one of the only high-profile releases during the 360 launch.

Which ones are ridiculous? I thought Frontlines was overlooked for good reason, as it was essentially just a carbon-copy of the Battlefield series.

With it being bashed a lot despite being a good game and near dead online community, I say it counts.

I thought this was "Overlooked games," not Overhyped games like Halo 3. Its still a great game and I play it every once in awhile, but that game is more like Overhyped then Overlooked. My most Overlooked game on the Xbox 360 is Perfect Dark Zero. Yes, it may not be as good compare to the Original, but PDZ was a great game to play and it had 32 players online (Lag free, on my experience) and it was a lot of fun. The most thing I enjoyed was the CO-OP (Online), that game was just fun to play with a friend on CO-OP with a great single player experience. What a shame for a Launch 360 game that no one respects for, but thats my opinion.

The Godfather 2 it certainly isn't the best game and it has a lot of flaws but throughout my first playthrough I never got bored and I couldn't stop playing it. Although the multiplayer is dead to me for $10 you can completely destroy everyone that doesn't buy the level 5 weapons. I tried it just a little bit after the release and there was already like four guys on each team with them.

I would have to say Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, I just recently added that game to my wish list. I don't think that Sonic the Hedgehog or Mercenaries 2: World in Flames got the recognition that deserved. I thought that Sonic the Hedgehog was a great spiritual successor to Sonic Adventure. I also thought that Mercenaries 2 was good for what they had made.

Meh, about three months about it you would still find a game, with the same people. The community is most likely dead if not dying. But back in the day, man, Shadowrun was the reason I got into FPS.

Eternal Sonata. This one gets way less attention than it should be, just because of it's child-like imagery.
