I just picked up Condemned 2 for 5 bucks yesterday at Gamestops Power Saver Sale. I thought the first one was pretty creepy, so I expect the 2nd to be as well. Other than that, Dead Space, Silent Hill: Homecoming, Saw, Deadly Premonition, and FEAR are solid from what I hear. I have only played Dead Space and FEAR from that list but I intend on playing the others. Dead Space definately has that turn the lights off and turn the volume up and get on edge feel to it. And if you want downright SCARY, pick up Vampire Rain. It is downright SCARY that turd even got put onto store shelves lol.
condemned? and fallout 3 because of the ninja mole rats. but as for an actual horror game, saw.eh not that much but id say dead space or the. crap i cant remember its name. there are two of them and its first person and you beat people up with pipes and such

Alan Wake isn't scary. The camera zooms out and the action goes slo-mo almost every time to show you where the taken are coming from. Not exactly horrifying.... Condemned CO was the most scary game I think I've ever played. I don't often get scared at movies or games, but that game had me going.
i dont play many scary games so ill have to say dead space, it isnt exactly scary its just incredibly tense. it made my heart pound on a few occasions

Had some good scares like the mannequins on the shopping mall level, I had that game at launch and loved it.
F.E.A.R. and F.E.A.R. Files. Definetly worth checking out. Even if you're not into horror games they're both great FPS's

Trust me... the footsteps were scarier than most of the so called 'survival-horror' games I've played. Far scarier than Dead Space imo.
about every horror game turns scary when you play 'em while you're high... depends what kind of weed you've been smokingPlay Alan Wake when ur high oh man ur gonna be scared

Or better yet, (not to put down your awesome surround system), buy a pair of Turtle headphones and the sound is right in your F'in brain. I can barely play Condemned for more than a half hour before the goosebumps on my neck make my neck numb from cringing.
I haven't tried the sequel yet, but I own it. I can't finish the first one, lol.

Viva Pinata was a great game, but not exactly scary. Dead Space was probably the game that had me on edge the most, great game. Condemned: Criminal Origins was also pretty scary.dead space and alan wake were pretty atmospheric i enjoyed them i jumped a couple times during the first playthroughs.

There where occassions that the camera didnt zoom out, and i admit it made me jump a few timesEasily scared, yes? I could tell when enemies were going to attack every time. When it didn't go slo-mo and the camera did not zoom out, the wind would pick up, fog would start moving around, then a few taken would appear... too predictable. I enjoyed the game, but my biggest knock on it is its predictability with the enemies. Would've been much more fun had you not known when they would attack. I would've loved for some of those taken that could teleport and move really quickly to just appear out of nowhere, that would've freaked me out, but sadly, that just doesn't happen.[QUOTE="Doolz2024"]

And @ donalbane, yeah I only play it at night w/ sound up.... but like I said, the game is too predictable to be scary (to me anyway). Regardless of this, each encounter is still very intense and exciting. The game can become a bit repetitive, but it's still fun.

I don't think anything is really scary, but the only games that have made me jump are
Doom 3 (played on the PC)
F.E.A.R. (the original, not the sequel)
Dead Space.
Alan Wake. Yeah I know it has it's camera zoom out moments, but it also has quite a few bad guys jumping out from behind stuff moments too.
Sometimes I think the highlighting certain enemies is just a slight of hand. It makes your attention wonder somewhere, and next thing you know, pow something is jumping out of another area you didn't expect it from.
Play any of the above games with the lights off and head phones on and see if you don't jump.
Fallout 3. Although I've never played Dead Space, Bioshock 1 or 2, Alan Wake, Condemned 1or 2, etc. Just creeping around the Wasteland at night, then hearing some shuffling behind you, and as you turn around you come face to face with a Deathclaw.

F.E.A.R has grown on me and does not scare me the least now and Silent Hill Homecoming is somewhat scary the scariest i find is any of the condemed and deadspace but i havn't played deadspace in about a year
1.) Condemned- An absolute must play for the 360, very scary.
2.) Dead Space- Quite a bit of action and some good spooky moments thrown in.
3.) Silent Hill Homecoming. - Silent Hills are always good for a scare and this one did not disappoint.
Side Note; Its recommended all of these games be played alone and in the dark (just like the original Resident Evil dared its players to on the back of the box) :D
I know this may sound weird, but the only game that has ever given me the chills was Mirror's Edge. I know it's not meant to be scary, but there is something about trying to run perfectly through obstacles while enforcers chase you down, that gets my heart racing. (especially when the enforcers are as fast as you are)
