No I don't think that's why they didn't show their console.

Yeah, I sorta find it difficult to believe Microsoft would do something like this knowing the competition wouldn't also do this. It's pretty risky

Well... the PS4 does come bundled with the new PS4 eye. Just saying. I can imagine we will all need to read the user agreements with a fine toothed comb.

Edit for addition: Those user agreements change all the time with frequent updates. Voice and facial recognition with an online connection for a consumer product, (IN MY HOME) is where I drawl the line. I don't see how either company will not attempt to use DRM tied to those things. M and S still have time to change things. The rest is up to them.

Well it's funny how there was the used game fee "leak" with Microsoft and then Sony was like yeah we have used game DRM too. Then Microsoft retracts and says there is no fee for used games and Sony gets stuck with this massive twitter campaign against them.

in some form or another, yes, they are working together. they are at least working together with publishers to overhaul the used game market. anyone that thinks the PS4 has a different strat for used games is out of their mind.

its not just them, it the entire game industry. They are sick of there games being sold around and they are not getting cut from it. Its almost like they are hemorrhaging money that could be used to hire more employees or at least keep them from being laid off.

"Hemorrhaging" my ass. You don't get to step on a consumer's rights just because you want a piece of the secondhand pie. No other industry can get away with it, so why should games? If there was a national chain of used book and movie stores, would we see those industries clamp down, too?

There is no where near the market for used products with other forms of media as there is for games. That's why it's become a big deal. You may not like it, but other than the top 4 or 5 companies, video game developers are shutting down left and right.

you know who is shutting down? Devs that are owned by publishers. and the publishers are closing those devs down because their games didn't sell 10 million copies.

I highly doubt it, and certainly would hope that would never happen. If Microsoft and Sony teamed up there would be less competition and it would mean higher prices for consumers.

Sony showed everything except what their box looks like.

* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiNGZMx2vhY

If you look around, they even showed off the PS4 controllers, and how they work with the new PS4 EYE.

Sony:

Q) Company 4, what do you want from the next console?

A) We have that.

Microsoft:

I was wondering if any cartel theories were ever going to pop up. It seemed about time for one.
