[QUOTE="Bishop1310"] I know DX 10 cards would have made the 360 very very expensive. but if they did make the 360 so it could use DX 10 the life span of the 360 would be a lot large do u not think?. And now they want to put an hd dvd drive in the console.. or thats the rumor.. to be honest i would have been willing to spend more money on a console that i knew was going to have an extreamly long life span. Sony says the ps3 is supposed to last 10 years. but i dont buy into that with the hardware that thing has and the struggles its still having almost a full year after launch.
If Ms had waited one more year and launched when sony and nintendo did, but with an HD-DVD drive and DX 10 cards.. the 360 would be far better off imo... already a great console but if they did that it would have stunk of next gen lol..
I think microsoft should waited to put aHD drive in the 360 until next gen. and make all their games on HD-DVDs
ur opinions guys

Firstly, DX10 specs weren't even solidified until long after 360 if I'm not mistaken. Waiting until next gen to make a console with HDDVD would be foolish because HDDVD isn't going to win. Now, I know people can pull that Yogi Berra "It ain't over till it's over," stuff and all, but think of it this way... if it's the top of the 9th and you're down by 10? Chances are, the ball game's over.
This is to say nothing of the cost. One of the main reasons that Sony isn't on top right now is because the hardware is far more complicated to program for so there's less games and because the BluRay makes it too expensive to get mass appeal. Putting a DX10 card and an HDDVD drive in the console wouldn't help this console, as it would likely put it up there in price with the PS3... and personally, I would've went with the more reliable machine if I had to choose one over the other.
Please don't spew nonsense about HD-DVD. Considering it took all of BluRay's catalog AND a buy one get one free deal on itthis past week for BluRay to maintain a 50/50 market share with Transformers, I'd say this is far from over. HD-DVD keeps gaining market share on media, slowly but surely and have now got a player in Walmart for $200. When you see 2 players capable of doing the same things (HD has more standards and interactive features... BluRay has more POTENTIAL space and bandwidth if it ever gets used/developed), but 1 is $200 and one is $500 guess which one average Joe picks up.
I agree it was Sony's battle to lose, but their generals seem to be shooting themselves in the foot a lot.
