MS steals Sony's playstation 3 home

According to reports, Microsoft E&D GM Daniel Schiappa has hinted that a PlayStation Home-like virtual world will be coming to Xbox 360 within the next year.

According to Team Xbox, the Entertainment and Devices boss turned up on stage at the Virtual Worlds Conference And Expo in San Jose and stated: "...by next year, you'll probably know more about why I'm up here." Oo-eer.

Speaking to CVG earlier this year, fellow Microsoft suit Chris Satchell said that Sony's Home incorporated a lot of ideas that Xbox 360 originated, perhaps suggesting that its own MMO-****virtual world wouldn't be too much of a departure.

"I think they've definitely taken some concepts that we originated like achievements, but I think they're pushing in a different direction and we've sort of fundamentally got two different approaches going on here," he said.

"It's a cool world but it's like a little game by itself. Our approach is the other way around; it's that games are the center and that's the star of the show, that's what people buy the console for."

He wasnt insulting the 360 he was just saying that MS was going to have a home like thing get over yourselfs. It doesnt really matter for me I've never been in to virtual chat rooms but MS does need something like this to stay a step infront of sony

Its the reason every company copys something so they can get more users. I dont see how this can be a bad or funny thing, as its a great way to become the best of the best. The someone else concept, and perfect it.

You fail video game history class. The first console with online was the dreamcast peter moore was incharge of that then he went to xbox when it failed. he made xbox live witch was quickly followed by the playstation network (or whatever they call it) you just got schooleddavidtabor5

How can you teach someone something when you don't know the material? Sony launched the PS2 online service on 8/27/02, where as Microsoft launched XBL on 11/15/02. For future reference, check your facts before attempting to school someone. Normally I wouldn't even bother, but you acted so high and mighty with your attitude, so I just had to do this.

see your right and wrong as am I. Yes Ps2 online came out in 8/27/02 But it was not a real service it was just an object that allowed people to play online the real service had to be made by developers noy by sony. so there was no real online service from sony till the ps3 launched.

Damn, I didn't know dreamcast was online, shouldn't that have been pretty innovative? How did it fail if it started online gaming for consoles?

Here's one example of what I was talking about. It's been mentioned by MS many times. I however only have the willpower to find one:

So as I was saying, MS was going to do there own version of Home a long time ago. They simply decided at the time it wasn't worth it. If they have now changed there mind I'm not sure I'd say that they are copying Sony as it's an idea they have already went through.

Damn, I didn't know dreamcast was online, shouldn't that have been pretty innovative? How did it fail if it started online gaming for consoles?

It had the potential for online gamming I dont think any games came out that utilized it's online functionality. I cant remember but didnt the Dream cast only last 2 years? My only experience with that console was playing it at a friends house so I may very well be wrong...... maybe maybe a phantasy star game was released on the dreamcast cant say for sure though.

As for home comming to 360? Sound neat, I wonder if it will be a gold only thing though. Hopefully silver members can get there hands on it.
