So I just played through WaW (I know, I'm late to the party) and I realized it had a decent amount of gore and dismemberment. While WaW was basically the COD4 engine, there have been obvious tweaks. Has it been announced that MW2 will keep this gore? If not, do you all think it would be a good idea?

I think it should not keep the gore for Modern Warfare 2. It works with the WWII setting because it was like that. People being turned into pudding, Burned alive, and blown to kibbles and bits. It fits the mood. I dont think it works with todays standards because it is not like that. Not a huge war and no one blowing up.

I was fine with seeing peoples brains splat against a wall when I sniped them in MW.

honestly i don't think the gore in MW2 will effect the out come of the game i don't think people would really much notice the arms flying through all action, sides its just a little bonus to the game really heads, legs, arms flying away lol so i don't really care if they keep it or not

Now everyone do not get me wrong i love gore. The most satisfying thing in the world is sniping someone in Gears of War. I love it. I just think it should at least be less gory than World at War.

Dismemberment and excess gore in games is useless to me. It just takes up essential memory. I was fine with CoD 4 blood, since it's slightly more realistic, and it can add to awesomeness in games if used correctly.

What? Are you serious? People get "blown up" in today's warfare just as much as they did 60 years ago...unless humans have developed some kind of resistance to high-powered ballistics that I don't know about...

Have you seen footage from the Iraq War? There's plenty of dismemberment to go around.

Have you ever heard of IED's or Improvised Explosive Devices, they have been a huge killer to troops stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Those roadside bombs rip through Humvee's like nothing and leave people dismembered if not dead.

Nah. I don't think the gore adds anything. Personally I think the game doesn't need it.

Yah i have but it is on no scale compared to WWII. I mean sure the car bombs are going off making soldiers lose limbs and die. I had a green bureau come to my class and tell storiescomplete with pictures. I know it is horribleover in the East butI am just saying it does not compare to back then.

No it's nice and clean nowadays... Bullets go in one side and out the other and people are blown comically high in the sky when they step on a land mine only to land with a bump on a pile of fluffy cushions... What?!? Of course it isn't. Bullets still take limbs off, mortar shells make a mess of people, and if anything, it's worse nowadays what with advancing technology. So I think gore would go with this game because after all, in any war, there is no such thing as a clean kill.

A: Yes, warfare now a days is just as gorey if not more than 60 years ago. (think RPGs, C4, frags grenades, 25mm cannons, artillary, etc.) B:Yes, I would love to see this gore stay and can think of no reason why it shouldn't C: The real question is, are they going to keep some form of vehicular combat?

I think it could use the gore. Why not? War's an ugly thing. I mean if you get shot by an apache you don't just fall over like the original MW. You're gonna get chewed up.

Really? i was thinking the war was much more bloody than ever nowadays, that the limbs continued to be ripped off with more violence, and hate, but looks like bullets and bombs are getting to have more kindness in your way of thinking :| Stop seeing CNN.

Vehicle combat should definitely be in! Although it does depend on setting/playable factions etc... From that trailer they put out and the airport theme I think they could get away with heavily armed luggage carts...

That looks more like a mine/claymore, from first hand experience, a round from a .50 would usually either A) blow someone in half or B) completely disintegrate them. Very rarely would it launch someone sky high, and yes they are goats. Very, very scary piece of gear.

1. It wastes valuable memory

2. IW probably won't pose off Treyarch. It's the other way around.

3. I am not to remove someone's arm and leg with a knife hit.

4. I doubt there's a lot of blood squirting out like a child's water gun when someone shoots someone else.

5. With blood only when you headshot someone, some people feel accomplished or satisfied.

6. It doesn't fit with the CoD franchise.

This is mostly my opinion.

Since you people are kind of empty in the head let me spell it out for you. I agree that it can be worse in todays time with gore and stuff. It does not just happen as much becuase the war is of a much smaller scale. I think that some gore should be in Modern Warfare 2 but only with certain guns and certain plot points in the story like you drive past an IED or something. The scale of it happening is just smaller. That is all I am saying.

Doesn't have to be full gore like WaW, but i'm an adult i like my entertainment so for shooters i expect some decent ammount of blood etc. or if you throw a grenade at an enemy i don't expect to just see him fly high up and body still fully intact i expect a head or leg flying off with it too.

I'd like to see it in, it makes taking someone out in multiplayer that little bit more satisfying, eg. shooting off your rivals leg after a 10 minute game of TD. Plus it probably appeals to a lot of gamers so I expect they'll keep it in, but I don't think it'll change the game in any large way. After all, I still think MW is a better game than WaW even though it doesn't have that gritty gore aspect.

are you f**** insane??? so people who fight in wars today are not blown to bits ehh??? Explosives are actually even more lethal than they were in the 1940's and guns have come a long way in fire power and trust me....getting shot up with an ak-47 or m4 assualt rifle WILL leave a mess. There is NO clean kills in todays wars with led that rips like that through flesh at those speeds. Newer guns dont come with this wierd function that you idiot infinityward fanboy gamers seem to think that makes bodies not filled with holes. Shotguns still leave a mess when you shoot someone in the face. Grenedes still blow off arms and legs. P90s still rip holes of red in peoples chests. For the new Modern warfare game to leave out what treyarch did with blood and gore, would be stupid.

Doesnt compare to back than??? Okay the war isn't as big but do you know how many wars are going on right now besides the stupid one in the middle east they tell you about on tv...,.thats besides the **** point. KILLING IS KILLING and warfare is still messy. it is probably messier than ever. I realy hope the idiots like you didn't get to infinity ward and influence them to keep carnage out of the game. Infinity Ward needs to put in a REALISTIC amount of carnage. Modern warfare was not realistic: I would dump a clip in a guys chest with an uzi and there would be no marks were i shot him. THAT IS NOT REALISM. Somebody steps on a mine and their leg looks good as new as it is still intact with the body. THAT IS NOT REALISM. So add gore infinity ward, to let these kids know, guns ARE DANGEROUS and WARFARE IS NOT CLEAN. Or alteast give the **** and modernwarfare "REALISM FANBOYS" a chance to turn it off.

They should definately add gore. When I shoot somebody in the face with a 9mm I want to see a hole in their head, not just the occasional bloodspray on the wall. WW2 was bloody so Modern warfare should be just as bloody or bloodier with all the newer more deadlier weapon. This game should have the same gore as wolfenstien in my opinion....every fps should.

WW2 was bloody so Modern warfare should be just as bloody or bloodier with all the newer more deadlier weapon. This game should have the same gore as wolfenstien in my opinion....every fps should.

I think it should not keep the gore for Modern Warfare 2. It works with the WWII setting because it was like that. People being turned into pudding, Burned alive, and blown to kibbles and bits. It fits the mood. I dont think it works with todays standards because it is not like that. Not a huge war and no one blowing up.

wait, what?!? that makes no sense, how have bombs and bullets changed how they affect the human body? your saying that theres no dismemberment in battle anymore? that is straight up false my friend. i mean how are people still not "blown to kibbles and bits" anymore? u make no sense

I guess he's talking about how the fighting was much more brutal. Chemical weapons were used and flamethrowers were commonly used. It was less clean.
