I've been pretty bored with CoD since WaW, just because of how the games felt super similar and almost redundant, but I've continued to play them just because they are still fun at their core. MW3 feels similar to older CoDs, but something about it makes it feel fresh at the same time.

The map design promotes a lot of rushing and the point system promotes more objective play, so everything is much more fast-paced and there's a lot more gun-on-gun action. I haven't played the SP or coop yet, but the MP is really, really good imo, and much more balanced, fair and exciting than that of MW2.

The spawn system is borderline horrible on some map/gametype combos, hit detection is inconsistent, and there can be HORRIBLE lag at times that makes the game unplayable for everyone in the lobby, but that's really all that's wrong with it imo. The issues with the spawns will most likely be addressed by IW taking maps off certain playlists (like taking Hardhat off of Domination... it's more or less unplayable). The horrible lag will probably be sorted out after the first few weeks, and the hit detection will probably become more consistent because of that. It is already much better than that of Black Ops, though.

Thoughts on the MP?

I loved MW2 but I feel no difference between 2 and 3. The graphics are exactly the same. The maps are cluttered and it's really hard to see people from a distance. Movement is choppy and slow. Weapons are very inaccurate and hard to stabalize. And like you said, the lag is horrible. I thought black ops had some bad lag. It's almost like the winner is predetermined so it makes the enemy team bullet proof. But I've been suffering bad lag for ever. I was hoping there would be dedicated servers to help it a bit but it only got worse. I love to play but I have excepted the fact that the person/team with the best connection is going to win. If I can't hit someone by aiming at them, then where the hell am I supposed to aim? I hate the m16 now. It's been the only gun I have used since the first modern warfare. And I only played zombies on waw because it didn't have the m16. Now it has become an inaccurate POS. even the best players on my friends list are disappointed in how bad the lag can be. And they have never expierienced lag before! But all in all it is a fun game and I will continue to play it in hopes that it or I will get better.

It's only been out for one day, wait until all the cheap stuff starts getting figured out (exploits, glitches, etc.) and then tell me it's awesome and the best CoD.

To be fair, this happens for every game. People will get better at MP games, as well as finding the camping spots, "cheap" weapons and all that stuff.

I understand that, that's why I'm saying you can't judge if a game is "good" really early on. Every game a person buys is AMAZING on day one then it loses its luster after a while.

MW3 is much more than MW2.5. New guns, better perk system, strike packages, weapon rank ups, best maps since CoD 4 imo and new game modes like Team Defender, Kill Confirmed and Hardcore Domination make MW3 a very worthy purchase to fans of the series or to those that left it behind for various reasons. I just have to laugh every time I hear someone say that the graphics of MW3 look dated as if that is the single most important way to judge a game's quality. MW3 looks just fine to me and it does its job nicely.

i guess graphics are inportant to me. i would rather play in a world that looks real than animated. Black Ops looked amazing and there was a somewhat real feel to the game. and your right i shouldnt base a games play on looks.

For me, someone who skipped the latest Treyarch CoD iterations (WaW/Black Ops), MW3 is awesome and everything I was hoping for so far.

I am just getting into it and loving it.

MW3's graphics are impressive. I get if people don't like the artistic direction, but the graphics are technically good, especially for a game running at 60fps on consoles. BF3's are certainly a step up, but MW3 still looks really good imo.

And about things getting exploited, I'm not really seeing anything in terms of perks, weapons, class setups, etc... that could cause any inbalance or any kind of annoyance, unlike MW2. There will be nothing even nearly as bad as infinite noobtubes, commando, or super powerful danger close RPGs. Also, IW has already said that they will be supporting the game much, much more than MW2, so any glitches will be patched out pretty quickly, much like in Black Ops.

I also like that IW trimmed down how many guns there are and made each gun feel different from the next, much like they did in MW2. There are a lot less guns, but they feel distinct and each have clear strengths and weaknesses. In Black Ops, there were a lot of undeniably similar guns that felt exactly the same.

I was surprised with my enjoyment of the game, too. I didn't much care for Black Ops, but this game is really addictive. The survival mode is great (I would've honestly bought it as a standalone $20 game), and the multiplayer is very euphoric. I look forward to playing more of it.

They need to release a new game every 2-2.5 years instead of every year. I don't get why everyone lines up to buy these every Fall. It's basically an expansion pack.

I'm loving it so far. Really enjoying the very busy maps that make it advantageous to keep moving instead of posting up in a single spot.

id have to disagree. i played it and its depressing how similar it is to mw2 and blackops. i was using the sniper rifle bolt action and i taught i was playing black ops since its the same gun, same model, same animation. just different sounds. mw3 really is a expansion pack. but i gues thats cool if u liked mw2

The Call of Duty series was very good at the beginning, I liked the first couple and World at War. Since Modern Warfare came out, I have just lost all hope for the game. I cannot believe that people continue to pay good money for a game that is, in my opinion, more of a large add-on than anything standalone. A couple of new maps, guns, perks, just little things like that. The campaign is very unrealistic, continuing with the fashion of past Call of Duty titles, and attempts to end overly climactically, which doesn't look good when it has been done over and over again in its previous titles. Then again, it's this supposed 'great' multiplayer that is meant to outshine this campaign and win it for this franchise. Still, when everything in multiplayer is exactly the same as Modern Warefare 2, I think things will get really slow really quickly. Don't waste your money on a failing series. I recommend a good RPG to balance out this wave of disappointment.

I agree. I don't understand why people hype mw3 so much. Its basically the same game with slight improvements. Its definitely not worth the price of a full game. I
