I don't do a whole lot with the multiplayer of COD, as it's the same with every COD game.
The campaigns of COD games are what really make them worth it, IMO, so here it is. Modern Warfare 3 does a great job of concluding the MW story if you've played and completed the first two games. When combined with MW2, it gives a vivid picture of what World War III might be like.
Black Ops II also does a great job of continuing the story of the first Black Ops. You'll see familiar characters and the game has a fantastic villain. You'll spend part of the time going in flashbacks to historic conflicts from the 80s, including Angola, Panama, and Afghanistan (the Soviet war), and the other part of the time taking on missions in 2025. The 2025 missions are futuristic without being silly.
So yeah, both games are great and are must-gets if you enjoyed the campaigns of their precursors.
