I bought my console on launch day and three weeks ago I said "my warrenty is up why not open it up and replace the tc with artic silver 5). So I did that and the 360 ran better then ever (I don't think it ever froze and the heat coming out the back was hotter [the artic silver was extracting more heat off the chips]). But yesterday I turned it on and it froze after 2 mins of playing and now will sometimes even freeze on the 360 boot screen. But most of the time it will boot into a game and only freeze 1 to 2 mins after I am playing the game (real game not game menu). Now when I turn on my 360 I can feel the heat coming out of the back of the console but when it freezes the fans don't seem to be blowing at all. Do you think that my fans quit once a game starts resulting in the game freezing or do the fans simply stop when the console freezes up? I will also note that I don't and have never got any error codes or red lights. So what's the deal?

Too bad, too... your new 3-year extended warranty is probably no good now that you opened up your console and messed around inside... oops.

Me opening it was just bad timing. Putting artic silver 5 in place of the old tc will not ruin your xbox in fact it makes it better. I think it's just my fans but I will prob call microsoft and see if there's anything they can do (of course they can't). If microsoft can't do anything I will open my 360 up monday and hardwire the fans. For those of you saying that me opening it up is the reason that it quit is pretty much dead wrong. The 360 is verymuch a pc and I have hardwired psus together, built who knows how many pc's, there is no way anything I did is resulting in the probs I now experience. Now if it had stopped working the same day or even a few days after I opened it I would prob say I fried it with static electricity but three weeks later??? I love how reliable electronics have become (two hard drive failures, a laptop that has a video prob, and now a 360).....
